Paris – France: Israel’s Right To Security Does Not Justify “Massacre” Of Civilians

(AP Photo/Hatem Moussa)Paris – Israel’s right to security does not justify the “massacre” of civilians, France’s foreign minister said Monday in unusually harsh language against a close ally. The French president said Gaza was among the wars that called into question any ability to remain neutral.

“How many more deaths must there be to stop what must be called the carnage in Gaza? The tradition of friendship between France and Israel is old and Israel’s right to security is total, but this right does not justify the killing of children and the massacre of civilians,” Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius said.

The Gaza war, in its fourth week, has killed more than 1,800 Palestinians and more than 60 Israelis.

Fabius said a cease-fire, followed by a two-state solution, is needed and “should be imposed by the international community because, despite numerous attempts, the two sides have shown themselves to be incapable of concluding negotiations.”

In a speech commemorating the 100th anniversary of the start of World War I, French President Francois Hollande said wars raging near Europe’s borders called neutrality into question. In a grim litany of violence, he cited Ukraine, Iraq, Syria, Lebanon and, finally, Gaza.

“How can we remain neutral, when in Gaza a deadly conflict endures for nearly a month?” Hollande said. “There is an obligation to act.”

I’ve seen the trick of speaking out of both sides of your mouth at the same time, but this new trick – speaking out of both ends at the same time – that’s becoming much more politician prevalent. Remind this politician that he destroyed his own country by letting the Germans walk right in without so much as a stray shot fired and then systematically handed over the Jewish population.

Blah Blah Blah, baaah, baaah, sorry dude, for the first time in 2000 years, the Jews are able to defend themselves so get your facts straight as to who started this whole thing. The Palestinians may have started it but Israel is liable to end it. Talk about obligation, the Jewish people have a Torah Obligation to wipe out their enemies and to protect and defend Jewish lives. The real enemy is Hamas, how come he doesn’t mention them as the culprit. I know, because he identifies much more closely with Hamas than he does with Israel. Guess that tells a story about where he is at.

Socialists are ever the utopians. A two state solution was imposed in 1948. Didn’t work out very well did it?

The land of liberte, egalite and fraterite should look at its own history. Nationalism does not justify anti-Semitism, e.g. Dreyfuss, surviving Hitler did not justify Vichy and Drancy. France is a chauvinistic, pompous and antisemitic nation.

Your government can’t or won’t even protect its Jewish citizens from the Muslim animals that you allowed into your country. They attack Jews in the street, firebomb their shuls and businesses, and openly riot like the animals they are. I’m curious what your country’s response would be if 3,000 missiles were shot into your civilian population by one of your neighboring countries that was run by a terrorist organization seeking your total destruction. I’m sure your air force would obliterate them without too much concern for civilian casualties or as you like to call them when other countries besides Israel defend themselves…”collateral damage.”

Guess what, Mr. Foreign Minister. If it were not for the “massacre” of German civilians by Allied bombers bombing German cities during World War II, France would still be under Nazi occupation; in fact, the entire world would probably under Nazi rule.

Research the Law of Land Warfare under the Geneva and Hague Conventions. Places that have protected status (churches, hospitals, schools, etc) LOSE that protected status when an armed force uses that facility to store/launch weapons or an attack or occupies it for other than humanitarian purposes. By example, you can use a hospital to treat military casualties and it retains protected status. If you use it as an operations center or fire artillery out of the courtyard, that status is removed and the hospital becomes a legitimate target.
In addition, if bombardment of a civilian area becomes necessary due to a hostile force using it to conduct military operations, notification of the civilian population prior to bombardment is required. What is NOT required is to not fire on it. The area is a legitimate military target and may be engaged. The fact that the people either elect not to leave or the hostile force will not let them leave is immaterial to the legal right to shoot at/into that area. Israel did in fact notify the civilian populations in these areas to leave.

Massacre. Please. Deaths of Arabs to be sure, but precious few. A population of 1.5 million arabs. Divide 2000 dead by 1.5 million. That .0013. If one percent of the population was killed that would be 15,000 people. Would that be a massacre? Now proportionality, that is misunderstood. It’s not a relative casualty count as the left would have you believe. It means may you attack and possibly kill innocents (Arabs, always and only this means Arabs, who are unfailingly presumed innocent, why, I have no idea) if that attack has reasonable military benefits, that is, will the attack save the lives of others. So, when Arabs attack Israeli soldiers from a packed school, it becomes a them-or-us decision. Should Israeli soldiers sacrifice themselves? If they die doing so, how will they be able to help rebuild Gaza when this war ends?
