Montreal, Canada – On the heels of an unusual home break-in on July 25 that saw thieves take a pass on all other valuables and steal only two shtreimels and a bekishe, Hasidic leaders are asking members of the community to be vigilant in reporting suspicious behavior.

CBC.ca (http://bit.ly/1pXeXfZ) reports that the odd choice of stolen items has left community leaders both perplexed and on edge, especially in light of the current situation in Gaza.
Zvi Hershcovich, who runs a Hasidic blog, said, “What’s significant is not the fact that they were stolen, what’s significant is the fact that there were other valuables in the home, much more valuable. Only those were stolen.”
“There was a motive behind it,” Hershcovich said. “The suspicion now with the war on Gaza is that it may have been Muslim extremists, and that’s why were are warning the community. If they put them on and they walk into a synagogue they could be seen as regular Hasidic Jews and they could potentially do anything.”

In Israel, the chasids won’t join the IDF because they believe prayers are stronger than soldiers. Same here…..pray and don’t involve the police.
