Vatican City – Retired Israeli President Shimon Peres has proposed a new global peace initiative to Pope Francis: A “United Nations of Religions,” given that most wars today have religious, not nationalistic, undercurrents.

The Vatican said Peres pitched the initiative during a 45-minute audience Thursday in the Apostolic Palace. The two men last met when Francis invited the then-Israeli president and Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas to pray for peace together in the Vatican gardens on June 8.
A few weeks later, war broke out in the Gaza Strip.
Peres told the Catholic publication Famiglia Cristiana that the U.N. is ill-suited to handle today’s conflicts and that a “‘U.N. of Religions’ is the best way to fight terrorists who kill in the name of God.”
Francis promised the Vatican’s attention to the proposal.
Nice idea. Ecumenical. However, it will become a Purim Shpiel if Islam is allowed to consider itself a religion and join.

LOL just goes to show how much power the “heilige” (l’havdil) pope’s prayers have.
Also please institute a Moment of Silence before each UN General Assembly and Security Council session, during which delegates should be instructed to meditate on the horrors of war, the preciousness of peace and harmony, and our duties to our Creator, Blessed be He, and our fellow creatures – that is, the Seven Commandments for all humankind.
Can you help to please direct the above proposal to the UN – I cannot find an email for Secretary General Ki-Ban Moon on the UN website.
Evil to embrace is a pope with a jew in his arms. I would hope fewer photos of our leaders in the arms of a pope are possible. Giving up your yechida’s smile is not common solidarity. A pope’s embrace is a rope. Don’t hang yourself.
