FILE - Reverend Dr. Calvin Butts of the Abyssinian Baptist Church of New York. ReutersNew York, NY – As critics continue to castigate Mayor de Blasio for his failure to support the city’s police force in the wake of the grand jury’s decision not to issue an indictment in the death of Eric Garner, a well known black preacher has said that de Blasio owes the NYPD a public apology.

“The mayor needs to say, ‘I know you guys are working hard…if I did or said anything that made you believe I was not with you, I firmly apologize,” said Reverend Calvin Butts, as reported by The New York Post.

The mayor has been subjected to large scale criticism for taking advice from Al Sharpton in the Garner case and Reverend Butts suggested that de Blasio’s advisors are steering him in the wrong direction.

Asked whether he was referring to Sharpton, Reverend Butts said, “Whoever it is, [de Blasio] better start listening to someone else. Right now it’s not working.”

Reverend Butts called for the mayor to meet with PBA president Patrick Lynch in an effort to begin the healing process and calm tensions in the city. Lynch publicly blamed the mayor for the assassinations of the two police officers on Saturday, saying that the blood of the two slain officers was on the mayor’s hands.

Butts, III is the Pastor of the Abyssinian Baptist Church in the City of New York.

Reverend Butts is correct but deBlasio is not listening to him. He only listens to such morons as Sharpton and Hoilder. It is time for him to resign because he is over his head in this job just as is his buddy Hussein Obama.

Sharpton is toxic for black people, he just yells the loudest….and our mayor is afraid of that

Apologies with qualifiers don’t work. Besides, de Blasio has to ask permission from Sharpton before he can apologize.

I totally agree, but our esteemed mayor thinks it’s better to be buddy buddy with the likes of Al.

Joe Lhota who was running as the Republican candidate against De blasio in the mayoral race has got to be smiling and saying to himself, told you this is what you’re going to get. No one can say that they weren’t forewarned. He told us what is going to be under De blasio. The pba. Endorsed lhota and for good reason.

Both Obuma and DiBlasion should have taguth their childen to obey the “laws” first and then they wouldn’t have to worry about the police.
