New Jersey – Lakewood police are investigating a collision this afternoon that killed a 2 year old girl in Lakewood.

Sergeant Greg Staffordsmith told VIN News that the accident took place today on Forest Park Circle at 2:10 PM.
The toddler was taken by Hatzalah to Jersey Shore Medical Center in critical condition, where she later succumbed to her injuries.
The accident is currently under investigation by both the Lakewood Traffic Safety Unit and the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office crash investigation team.
Funeral services were held tonight for young Batsheva Esther Wolfson, the toddler who died this afternoon after being hit by a neighbor’s car.
Meir Wolfson was walking with his children on Forest Park Circle at 2:10 PM when the fatal accident occurred.
“He was walking with his kids and the little girl was a few feet behind,” Lakewood mayor Menashe Miller told VIN News. “A person two houses down was pulling out of their driveway and saw the family walking by. When they saw the father clear the driveway they backed up, not realizing that she was behind his car.”
The funeral was held tonight at the 7th Street Chapel in Lakewood with burial taking place at the adjacent cemetery.
While Lakewood police continue to investigate the incident Miller said he doubts that any charges will be filed.

This means the carridge is actually in the traffic lane…and the mother THINKS she is taking safety into consideration .The mother is safe, not the baby.

Why not have a backup camera? even if your car doesn’t come with one it costs minimal to install one.
I wish everyone would reserve and keep their senseless comments in their heads. A child is dead. This is a tragedy. Mourn with her family and with the neighbor who did it. No one wanted this to happen. Don’t preach to us about what could have or should have happened. Or about clothing on Motzei Shabbos. You can’t turn back the clock.
