London – In a speech to Jewish leaders Wednesday night, British Prime Minister David Cameron said new money was found in the budget to protect the Jewish community from anti-Semitic attacks in light of the recent violence against Jews in Europe, reports The Daily Mail UK.

Cameron stated that Jewish schools and synagogues will get £10 million a year (approximately $15 million U.S. dollars) for protection.
About £2 billion a year is currently provided to Jewish state schools for security, but Cameron stated when he was asked what would happen if a private school was attacked, he was not prepared to “entertain” the thought that they could have done more.
Approximately £7 million a year of new money will fund guards for all Jewish private schools and colleges across the country, synagogues and community buildings will get £3 million and a one-off payment of £1.5 million to the Trust will fund advanced CCTV cameras.
The prime minister said he was “sickened” by the Paris attacks of the Charlie Hebdo office and a kosher grocery store, and will not “turn a blind eye” toward the violence.
Cameron told the Community Security Trust that their 3,000 volunteers epitomize the “best of Britain.” The Trust is a Jewish charity that protects the community against anti-Semitism.
