Brooklyn, NY – With the city’s birth rate at the lowest it’s been since 1936, highly Orthodox Jewish populated Brooklyn’s Borough Park is making up for low numbers with a birth rate of 27.9 per 1,000 residents.

According to the New York Post (http://bit.ly/1QFWS6R), 5,458 babies were born in the neighborhood in 2013.
Bayside, Queens, had the lowest birth rate with 5.5 births per 1,000 residents according to 2013 data.
Among foreign-born mothers, Asians had the highest birth rate, with 17.1 babies per 1,000 residents. Numbers also showed that nearly 6 in 10 women who gave birth were on Medicaid or government-funded insurance.
The lowest birth rate citywide was among blacks, with 12.7 per 1,000. Data showed more black women are having abortions than babies.
Data showed the teen birth rate dropped 10 percent since 2012 and 37.6 percent since 2004.

A big problem is that today we live with more luxuries that are necessities than our grandparents.I the beginning of the 20th century a mans income was sufficient to support a family Today we need two wage earners to survive. Cars, tv.freezers , refrigerators, air conditioning the latest phone contraptions and on and on ,our grandparents had none of this
life got too expensive. either have less kids or have 2 incomes
Births among the Black community have dropped? I guess that the Government isn’t paying enough aid these days. It’s not worth having babies anymore.
