Carter Tinsley SchildknechtLamesa, TX – A Texas judge was disciplined by the The State Commission on Judicial Conduct for calling a district attorney a “New York Jew” and telling an assistant district attorney that his beard made him “look like a Muslim, and I wouldn’t hire you.”

106th District Court Judge Carter Tinsley Schildknecht’s admonition of those and other events given in July 2014 was released Monday, according to Texas Lawyer (http://bit.ly/1IIg95k). The admonition states that Schildknecht called D.A. Michael Munk a “New York Jew” during a discussion with Munk’s secretary in the Schildknecht’s office.

She later explained to Munk and a defense attorney that when she explains why Munk thinks differently she says it is because he is from New York and because he is Jewish. Schildknecht said her comments were not made with prejudice.

Schildknecht was also accused of not treating lawyers and plaintiffs with courtesy after holding court until 4 a.m. in July 2014 and of violating the state’s open court doctrine when she refused to Munk in her court on July 15, 2014.

Schildknecht is required to take a four-hour class with a mentor about the open courts doctrine and recognizing and removing explicit and implicit bias and/or prejudice.

She must be removed from the bench to set an example that obscene bias will not be countenanced in the judicial system.

its always good to remind ourselves. That we are not in a free country. we as Jews don’t like to hear this we want to feel that we are one nation nobody hates us. But unfortunately ask people with experience. and history of World War 2. when the used to live together with them for years. And when the Nazi German came in they gave over everybody and everything they were even saying I was waiting for that day.

don’t be naive and fool yourself

can you imagine what kind of justice you would get with her, if she doesn’t like your appearance she judges you more harshly then the people she likes. Equal justice to all, maybe a court clerk would be a better position for her than a judge.

Hey guys to be honest when she crticizes a defense attorney Munk for being jewish she doesn’t mean the jews as a religion or a torah jew. Its no secret that yidden void of torah in the non orthdox community are by far the most liberal and destructive thinkers. Starting form the hippes all the way down to current liberal jews like j street and the likes liberal jews are corrupt. It stems form the fact that us jews are taught to have pity on everyone. However, without the proper guidelines it can get out of control. Thus when she crticizes a defense attorney, we can safely assume its due to his liberal views. I agree 100% with he rcomment and do not find it to be anti-semtic at all. Its in line with how we feel too.

why do only illiterate readers of VIN write comments? Did none of you ever learn to read and write in English?

You are all embarrassments to the Jewish community.

Her name sounds German so her saying that is doubly rude, crude, and shows a way of thinking that is bigoted. At least she was open so we know who she is. Others just hate any Jew, Black, Native American, or group other than their own, but do not say anything, just use that when they make a judgment. It is no different than someone who is overweight coming to court and instead of hearing the facts she saying, “You are a frumpy old lady” and so you think like one. Huh? Every Jew and every New Yorker is still an individual and not to be lumped or labeled. I hope other judges in Texas are not respecting this one.
