The bill was proposed by MK Danny Atar, who says he was inspired to create the legislature after his parliamentary assistant, who is in her third trimester of pregnancy, arrived at the office one day exhausted and sore after having to walk a long distance from her car to the building, reports Israel National News (http://bit.ly/1JXfN81).

Pregnant women in their third trimester would get a badge to allow them to use handicap parking spaces from the start of the third trimester up to one month after the delivery date of the baby.

Various parties have showed support for the bill, including the Likud, Meretz, Yisrael Beytenu, Kulanu and Zionist Union (Labor-Hatnua).

Why not in the second trimester?

    Why not in the first?

Better yet, allow all women (who may be pregnant, and not wish to disclose) to park in the handicapped spot.

    …oh wait …

Makes sense. For seculars pregnancy is a disease, an unwanted condition that is best to terminate.

And besides, how are they going to know? A tznuya will leave a sticker on her dashboard with the date when she conceived?

Pregnancy should not be treated as a handicap or affliction. If women want “equality” than don’t ask for special considerations for an ordinary life event. Men have their own burdens and issues and they don’t go around seeking handicap stickers when they have some “guy issues”.

this makes total sense, it is hard for a women in her third trimester to walk long distances with her extra weight.

This law will not apply to women of several chasidic communities (especially Belz) who are not allowed to drive whether pregnant or not.
