President Reuven Rivlin met with the pope for about 30 minutes in Francis’ study Thursday.
The Vatican said the meeting, and subsequent talks with the Vatican secretary of state, focused on Mideast peace “and the need and urgency to promote a climate of trust between Israelis and Palestinians, and to restart direct negotiations to reach an agreement that is respectful of the legitimate aspirations of the two peoples.”
Reporters said Francis presented Rivlin with a new bronze medallion featuring a rock split in two and held together by an olive branch emerging from the fissure. The inscription reads “Look for what unites, overcome that which divides.”
He can ask for the keilim back.
Chutzpah and Rasha. Telling us to unite with people who want to destroy us. Abbas is an angel of peace, even as he doesn’t recognize our existence, but we must overcome our reluctance from being delivered to the sword of the enemy….
reminds me of the joke between meeting of pope and Zionist leader and the pope is the one wearing a yamaka.
Beautiful picture :
Pope with his head covered and Israeli President without,
Please, don’t compare the pope with President Rivlin. The pope’s kipa is for idol worship, the man is the top avoda zara conductor. President Rivlin is a Jew, a part of Am Segulah, and am sure that he is filled with mitsvos from Hashem, despite being secular. Chazal say that even the Poshei Israel are filled with mitsvos. We have to have an ayn tov for every member of Klal Israel, and may WE all do teshuva together.
Give us back out Keilim–why is it that someone who heads one of the religions have anything to do with politics–beware!
