Asked Wednesday if Whitaker would take control of the probe, Justice Department spokeswoman Sarah Flores said Whitaker would be “in charge of all matters under the purview of the Department of Justice.”
President Donald Trump named Whitaker as acting attorney general after Sessions resigned Wednesday. Whitaker had served as Sessions’ chief of staff.
He once mused about a situation in which Trump could fire Sessions and then appoint an acting attorney general who could stifle the funding of special counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation.
Trump’s relationship with Sessions frayed just weeks into his tenure, when he stepped aside from the Russia investigation. Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein has overseen Mueller’s work.
CONSTITUTIONAL CRISIS AHEAD. After losing the House, a number of Governorships and State Legislatures and conservatoids getting their brains bashed in on State Ballot Initiatives (google it) Emperor Nero will take the US down another peg by firing Mueller to protect his business interests. RESISTANCE WORKED!
Crooked Don is obviously corrupt. Trump is also a wimp because he didnt have the guts to do this prior to the election. Don the con.
What a great move by the president. Long overdue. The market loved it. Dow up 500+ points
If as Trump says there’s “nothing to this Russia thing” why would he have any interest in ending the probe which would clear him of wrongdoing ?
The best thing he could do is expand the probe to include the actual collusion by the Clinton campaign and the dnc with the Russians
Poor Hashomer. The blue wave never happened now he has to dream up other scenarios. I feel bad for the kid.
