New York – Winter is more than a month away, but the NYC Department of Sanitation has issued a Snow Alert for Thursday. Snow and sleet will develop around noon time and then change to rain Thursday night.

It will feel like it’s in the 20s on Wednesday night and clouds will thicken early on Thursday as the storm approaches. The first chance of snow is in the afternoon.
During a snow alert, the DSNY coordinates with New York City Emergency Management and the Department of Transportation in order to safely clear snow and follow the agency’s plans during weather advisories.
More than half an inch of flakes could hit Central Park by that evening, as snowfall becomes most likely starting in the early afternoon, the forecast shows.
The white stuff will be accompanied by sleet and rain, with showers expected to continue into Friday, according to the weather service.
Alternate side parking will be suspended Thursday.
