Former advocate Letitia James is now New York’s attorney general.
The job comes with a $165,000 salary, a $3 million budget and a bully pulpit – but little actual power. The position, which was created in 1993, is first in the mayoral line of succession.
Seventeen candidates are running for her former post. Perceived frontrunners include: Jumaane Williams, Michael Blake, Daniel O’Donnell, Melissa Mark-Viverito, Nomiki Konst, Eric Ulrich, Ron Kim and Rafael Espin
The winner will serve the through the end of the year.
The election is open to all registered voters across the city, with polls open 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. Very low turnout is expected from the city’s roughly 5.2 million registered voters
A primary for the position will be held in June, and a general election is set for November.
The winner of that race will serve the remainder of James’ turn, which ends in 2021.

the aguda and its real estate interests support Ulrich, which means they think they can control him to oppose fighting sex abuse etc, so I will vote against Ulrich.
