Sanders spoke on Saturday to the conventions some 6,000 attendees, the first presidential candidate, along with Julian Castro, to address the gathering, the largest meeting of American Muslims.
“I am here today because I believe in the concept of solidarity, and the need for all of us, no matter where we come from or what our background is, to stand together in the struggle for justice and human rights,” Sanders said.
“We must speak out at hate crimes and violence targeted at the Muslim community and call it what it is: Domestic Terrorism,” he also said.
He brought up his personal history, as the “proud son of Jewish immigrants.”
“As some of you may know, the issue of hatred and prejudice is very personal for me,” he said. He noted that those in his family who remained in Poland after Hitler came to power were murdered by the Nazis.
“And the lesson I learned from that experience is how important it is for all of us to speak out forcefully whenever we see prejudice and discrimination,” he said.
He reminded his audience that “in the wake of Trump’s Muslim ban, thousands of non-Muslims from all walks of life rushed to airports all across this country to stand in solidarity with Muslims.”
Sanders was introduced by his campaign manager Faiz Shakir, the first Muslim to manage a major presidential campaign.

Hey Bernie are you so dumb? Here is the difference between the muslim ban and nazis Germany.
1) Muslims actually killed us in the name of Islam on 9/11 in a massive . Did anyone blow up Germans in the name of judiasm in 1933? Sure one jew shot someone which resulted in Kristalnacht. But that was one jew, not organized, not in the name of religion and it wasn’t massive terror attack.
2) We are just banning new muslims from entering. And they are from countries that have a terror history. We are not banning our own citzens.
3) he nazis rounded up and killed people. We are not.

Bernie has a habit of taking obvious differences and making it over simplistic till its a lie. Its just like medicare for all where he really wants medicare and medicad with the most platnuim top helath plan for all. When you look into the details it makes zero sense. In our times, we have created a monster, quite consistent with the liberal PC thinking, and it is killing everyone. We have made the spoken word far more important than fact or truth. I take issue with your characterizing Bernie with modifying things until they become a lie. I believe he starts with a lie, and babbles it often enough using the PC buzzwords until enough of the uneducated robots begin to adopt that agenda. But it is a lie before he even starts.
Lastly, there was never a Muslim ban. It was a ban on terrorists. And this meant that their countries of origin mandate a more serious vetting. I always disagreed with the ban. I favored recognizing Islam as an ideology that believes in terror, murder, violence, and anti-Semitism. It was never a religion, and granting Islam the protections of religion is simply a mistake – and a huge one, a fatal error. My issue with the ban was that it ignored the movement within America that supported the existence of Islam as a religion, while this same Islam is against America, its allies, and agreeable if not supporting of terror against Jews world over. These thugs need to be banished from our shores, and it is dishonest to address this as discriminating against religion.
