In a tweet on Tuesday, Trump says he has come to the conclusion that the inquiry is not really an impeachment, “it is a COUP, intended to take away the Power of the People.”

In fact, a coup is usually defined as a sudden, violent and illegal seizure of government power. The impeachment process is laid out in the U.S. Constitution.

Trump has been particularly active on Twitter since the impeachment movement gained steam.

Trump claims in his latest tweets that the impeachment drive is aimed at blocking his agenda of protecting the Second Amendment, building a border wall and preserving religious freedom, among other things.

Perhaps Trump’s personal lawyer can advise him than an impeachment is a trial authorized by the Constitution to remove a criminal from Federal office. If there’s been no wrongdoing what is he worried about?

This matter should proceed, as per the U.S. Constitution. We can keep attacking each other on this site, for the next few months, over this matter. However, it is out of our hands. If Trump has not done anything illegal, then he will be cleared by the U.S. Senate, as President Andrew Johnson was in 1868. However, 1868 was also an election year. Although Johnson was cleared by one vote in the Senate, his party refused to nominate him for a second term, and he left office, after one term.

Fyi nothing changed at all..Pelosi pacified her ppl by announcing impeachment…notice no trials, dates, or anything official changed. I’m not a huge Rush Limbaugh fan but he’s right on this time! The dems are happy and Trump is happy..the dumb dems dont know any better and Trump knows the truth…he may not be your speed, your type, your first choice of species but he’s real, he doesnt care what ppl think, and is getting his job well done even with his hands virtually tied behind his back and being under a microscope at every breathe and move. Can they prove him guilty even if hes not? I put nothing past anyone anymore. Our own FBI is one piece of corruption and justice is a joke here in the US of A so who knows? I hope truth prevails

To be fair, our President is easily confused. I suspect he might call a two-door car a “coup.”

Archy, evidently you didn’t understand or read my prior posting, regarding former President Richard M. Nixon. On July 27, 29,and 30, 1974, the House Intelligence Committee recommended impeachment of Nixon, based on three impeachable offenses, which were obstruction of justice, abuse of power, and contempt of Congress. His “smoking gun tape”, which was revealed shortly thereafter (based on a ruling by the U.S. Supreme Court), clearly showed that Nixon was complicit in the Watergate coverup. Prior to the recommendation for impeachment of the House Intelligence Committee being sent to the floor for a full House vote, Nixon opted to resign. He was advised that there wasn’t enough Republican support in the U.S. Senate, to prevent a conviction. Hence, unlike your repeated remarks, which have no basis in fact, Nixon’s impeachment was imminent, as well as his conviction in the U.S. Senate. Facts are facts; therefore, I wish that you would stop toying with American history, with your constant revisionist statements. Incidentally, I am not your “buddy”, so kindly don’t refer to me with that condescending term, or some of your other “pearls of wisdom”. P.S. I saw your photo of “the real Archy (Bunker)”. I’m really surprised that you would use his photo as he referred to us as “Heebs”.

Trump and Rudy use discredited and disbarred sicko ‘lawyer’ Roy (AIDS) Cohn’s playbook of attacking American institutions for crooked personal gains. Trump, Barr, Pomposity and Rudy will all go down w that ship. Just likeevil Erlichmann, Halderman, AG John Mitchell and 10 other bunker-schleppers went DOWN w Sicky Dick Nixon. FEH
