The Monroe Police Department has advised people to avoid the Still Rd area on Friday. October 4, 2019, from 7AM to 3PM due to multiple road closures for the funeral of slain NYPD policeman Brian Mulkeen.

The funeral detail, which will take place at Sacred Heart Church, is expected to cause major traffic backups and congestion in the area. The entire Monroe-Woodbury exit is expected to be clogged up, affecting the adjacent Kiryas Yoel community. The following streets will be closed for the duration of the funeral detail:

  4. Pine Tree Rd will be closed from Still Rd to Winchester Dr. (access will be allow. to Pine Tree School).
  5. Stage Rd will be closed from Ryc Hill Rd to Still Rd.

The Ramapo Police Department, assisted by various other Rockland County law enforcement agencies, will be conducting traffic control for Officer Brian Mulkeen’s funeral procession. Motorists, residents, and businesses should expect the following road closures in the Town of Ramapo, starting around 1:45pm:

(1) Airmont Road between the NYS Thruway and Route 59, (2) Route 59 between Airmont Road and New County Road, (3) New County Road between Route 59 and Saddle River Road, and (4) Saddle River Rd. between Hillside Ave. and S. Monsey Road

Closures are for the safe passage of the funeral procession, and roads will be reopened as the procession passes through.

Today is a good time to remember when a cop leaves home in the morning he or she is never certyain that they’ll be returning home again. Many of the deaths occur during what begins as a routine call such as a domestic violence complaint or increasingly “a man with a gun”. Appreciate all that the men and women of the pokice forces do to protect each of us and thank the cops when you see one.
