NEW YORK (AP) — Shepard Smith, whose newscast on Fox News Channel seemed increasingly an outlier on a network dominated by supporters of President Trump, abruptly quit after working at Fox since it started in 1996.

Smith said at the end of his daily newscast on Friday that he had asked the network to let him out of his contract and it had agreed.

Even in the current polarized environment, Smith said “it’s my hope that the facts will win the day, that the facts will always matter and journalism and journalists will thrive.”

Neil Cavuto, who anchors the broadcast following Smith’s, looked shocked after the announcement.

“Whoa,” Cavuto said. “Like you, I’m a little stunned.”

Smith’s departure also comes one day after Attorney General William Barr met privately with media mogul Rupert Murdoch, founder of Fox News. President Trump has been increasingly critical of personalities on Fox News that he views as disloyal.

On his afternoon newscast, Smith had frequently given tough reports debunking statements made by Trump and his supporters — even the Fox News opinion hosts that rule the network’s prime-time lineup.

Two weeks ago, Smith clashed with Tucker Carlson when an analyst on Smith’s program, Andrew Napolitano, said that it was a crime for President Trump to solicit aid for his campaign from a foreign government, in this case the Ukraine. Later that night, Carlson asked his own analyst, Joseph diGenova, to comment and he called Napolitano a fool.

The next day, Smith said that “attacking our colleague who is here to offer legal assessments, on our air, in our work home, is repugnant.”

Rupert Murdoch, himself, was opposed by his sons and his daughter-in-laws, regarding Bill O’Reilly’s continued employment at Fox. Murdoch is divorced from reality, and I think that it is about time, that the Board of Fox, gives him his walking papers. Also, Fox should get rid of Jeanine (130mph) Pirro, Laura Ingraham, and Shawn O’Reilly. Andrew Napolitano was correct, regarding his analysis. Regarding Joseph DiGenova, he prosecuted Jonathan Pollard, and was responsible not only for his 30 year imprisonment, but also he made statements opposing the lessening of restrictions, pertaining to Pollards harsh parole conditions.

Shep Smith was a traitor who opposed the Trump regime and didn’t toe the Official State TV line so it’s time he was ousted and it seems that it too a meeting between the US Attorney General and Murdoch to remove him. Donald Trump is an infallible genius who knows more than all the journalists and generals and everyone else. There is not a dishonest bone in our Leader’s ample body.

regarding:

“..whose newscast on Fox News Channel seemed increasingly an outlier on a network dominated by supporters of President Trump, says he is leaving the network.”

he was a news reader…he was not supposed to demonstrate support for or against the President…

Shep was just another sly drama queen…..annoying

No one will notice he is gone-he is just not that important

To: Archy Bunker- Your friend Bill O’Reilly, had to cough up $30,000,000 (Thirty Million dollars) out of his own pocket to settle with another Attorney, Liz Wiehl, for forcing himself on her sexually, and for harassing her for years. Now, Arch, if O’Reilly was innocent, do you think he would have paid that much money to her? Fox would not support him regarding that litigation, and were tired of paying for his legal judgments over the years. Essentially, Fox told O’Reilly to clean up his own mess. When O’Reilly was becoming too much of a liability to Fox, and to their sponsors, they finally gave him the boot; however, they should have given that pervert the boot at least five years earlier. O’Reilly wasn’t even such a good author, either. I found numerous factual errors, in his book about General Patton, which to the best of my knowledge, neither he, nor his assistant writer ever corrected.

Shepard Smith was a gay anti-semite who loved Palestinians who throw faggots off buildings. Judge Nepolitano is an idiot who had “inside information” that Trump was secretly indicted by Muller & would be prosecuted as soon as he left office. What an idiot. Trump did nothing illegal with Ukraine. Even if there had been a quid pro quo (and there obviously wasn’t), asking Ukraine to look into possible corruption by Biden is not a crime.

Smith is an unAmerican citizen and a sore thumb to FOX. Everyone I knew refused to watch his anti-USA show and could not stand him.
I’m glad FOX fired him regardless of them saying he “quit.”
