In the memorable 2018 final of the contest, the two, Azriel Shilat and Oriyah Cohen, outstripped all of the other contestants and were then pitted against one another in the final round, in which 12 questions must be answered correctly in quick succession. Usually one contestant fails in one question, but on this occasion both succeeded in answering all the questions correctly.
However in the tiebreaker round added specially for such a scenario, Shilat managed to correctly answer one question more than Cohen to win the title, although both contestants received free scholarships to higher academic studies.
Shilat and Cohen, both aged just 17 at the time, were then together on the stage to be awarded their respective honors from Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. It transpired later that both had met in the preparatory camp and had studied together for the quiz.
Shilat, a resident of Hatzor Haglilit in Israel’s north, now studies at Ateret Cohanim Yeshiva in Jerusalem’s Old City, while Cohen, a Haifa resident, is doing her national service.
“Thank you very much for the blessings, to all those blessing us” Shilat said.
That’s just so cute ❤️ :).
