At the Shiva house, Cossolini shared some of his thoughts on the neighborhood and the horrific tragedy.

“I got the house over there and moved here by design. This is where I wanted to live and meeting all you guys over the last nine months, walking to and from work, everyday: I’m glad I did move into this community,” Police Det. Joe Cossolini said in brief remarks posted on Twitter.

“Whatever people say about the community itself, what happened the other day does not underscore what this community is about.”

In addition to losing a neighbor in the attack, Cossolini also lost a colleague. Detective Joseph Seals, who was shot and killed at the beginning of the shooting attack, will have his wake today.

Detective Cossolini is a real MENCH! As tragic as this was, it was a Kiddush Hashem that the 50 students at the Satmar Yeshivah, next door were saved! The entire community owes a debt of gratitude to the Jersey City, NJ Police Dept., and the other police agencies, which responded, and stopped the attackers.

What is the community about? Where are the black leaders condemning this attack? Where is Sharpton? Why no solidarity? Why do we not forgive a few nut jobs chanting jews will not replace us in Charoltsvile but we tolerate chants by people of color who blamed the victim the jew for this terrible blood shed? Almost no condemnation from anyone?
