4 Killed, 14 Injured As Bus Slams Into A Bus-Stop Near Ben Gurion Airport

LOD (VINnews) — 4 people were killed and 14 injured, 2 of them seriously after a bus no. 947 travelling from Tel Aviv to Haifa via Ben Gurion Airport lost control and crashed into a concrete bus stop on road 40 adjacent to the airport. The force of the crash caused a concrete girder to penetrate the bus and cause significant injuries to those sitting on the side near the bus stop.

A 70-year-old man was killed and three woman aged 60, 50 and 30 also died in the crash. The injured were transferred to the Tel Hashomer, Asaf Harofeh and Hasharon hospitals. One of the casualties is a Chareidi resident from the central region in Israel.

A Hatzalah paramedic who was one of the first to arrive at the scene said that “this was a very serious accident, a bus which apparently had lost control crashed into a stop causing a concrete girder to collapse on it. Together with MDA paramedics and members of Hatzalah Petach Tikva we provided initial treatment to the injured. A fire crew are working to extricate injured people who are still trapped inside and searching around the bus to see if other people are trapped.”
