True. Biden’s dying campaign just got a shot in the arm with his win of the South Carolina primary. But this does not mean that he will outshine Sanders. Biden has been defeated in three state primaries by Sanders. Poll after poll still have Sanders pulling ahead. In California, Sanders is polling 2 to 1 ahead of Biden. He is also way behind in Texas. Both of these states have a hefty amount of delegates, and they vote early.
Pete Buttigieg, Amy Klobuchar, and Elizabeth Warren all lost big in South Carolina as well. Each had single-digits results with black voters.
What Biden can and probably should do at this point is to join up with Bloomberg in the same manner that Yitzchak Shamir did with Shimon Peres and that Shimon Peres did with Yitzchak Rabin. In Israel, during those elections, they split up the Prime Ministry position, and the same can be done with the position of POTUS. The two of them can announce a deal wherein Biden would be president for the first two years and then the two would switch for the next two years. Or it could be the other way around. They should cut the deal and make the announcement before Super Tuesday.
As of now, it looks like no candidate will get the necessary amount of delegates to avoid a second vote from the super-delegates at the convention. If that happens, they will be faced with either nominating the non-electable Sanders or choosing someone else with less delegates than he had won fairly and facing a very large disgruntled group of Sanders supporters when they take the nomination away from him. This is something that could veritably destroy the party for the next four years.
The advantages of such an arrangement would be:
- the Democrats would have what they want – an alternative ticket to Trump that is eminently electable.
- Clarity as to what will happen at the Democratic convention.
- A Bloomberg funded campaign that can get the ticket rolling earlier.
- The Democratic party would be highly focused and they can plan other campaigns in the House, Senate and the state government elections.
These are just four immediate advantages that would be gained by such an arrangement. Both of the candidates together bring much to the table and could build the country in significant ways. If they don’t take such a measure, they could suffer significant losses in the polls this November.

Now the question remains whether either Biden or Sanders goes to vin.
Unfortunately Mr. Cohen your analysis is flawed. Since it is obvious to anyone who understands the US system. in the US we vote for an individual to be president, unlike in Israel where the citizens vote for the party and the party who wins the most seats in the parliament choses the PM. The USA has no such provisions in the governing laws for 2 candidates from the same party to make the kind of arrangement you suggest. I suggest you brush up on your political science. And VIN you should know better than to post such & call it a “political analysis” ELIJAH COHEN RESPONDS: This would be an arrangement between the two of them that is made public – a completely viable plan. Before you correct someone – verify that you are correct. Also, your explanation is flawed because from 1992-2001, Israel did have direct election of the Prime Minister. Thirdly, this is the correct spelling of “anonymous” and the word is “chooses” not “choses.”
You should stay out of U.S. politics. We Jewish U.S. citizens know the Democrat party has no interest in either representing us nor protecting Israel and know who to vote for and it is not a democrat. ELIJAH COHEN RESPONDS: I am not an outsider. It is best if the Democratic candidate also be pro-Israel. Sanders is an anti-Semite. It is in the Jewish interest to have a pro-Israel candidate on the other side as well. There is no question that president Trump is the ideal candidate for Israel, but something can happen such as the Corona Virus..
We do not need outsiders advising us.
