JERUSALEM(VINnews) — Israel announced new guidelines for its closure which will be enforced as of 5 PM Wednesday. The new guidelines allow people to go out only for essential food or medicine requirements as well as assisting those who require care. The guidelines also prohibit all public gatherings except for outdoor prayers, weddings, funerals and circumcision ceremonies which maintain social distancing requirements and do not have more than 10 people together taking part. People will not be allowed to walk more than 100 meters from their homes for short walks.

In the wake of the new guidelines the Israeli Chief Rabbinate issued new directives not to pray inside synagogues but if possible to maintain minyanim near the synagogues and to read the Sefer Torah outside when required. The special prayers on the eve of the month of Nissan should be conducted in the same manner.
