NEW YORK (VINnews) — The wife of Rabbi Yekusiel Yehuda Halberstam of Tzanz-Klausenberg and mother of the present Tzanzer Rebbe, Rebbetzin Chaya Nechama Unger, passed away from coronavirus in Union City, New Jersey, on Shabbos. The Rebbetzin, who was 96, had been sick in the past few years but her situation deteriorated after she contracted the virus.

The Rebbetzin was eulogized in the middle of the night by her son in Boro Park, the Tzanz-Klausenberg Rebbe, who wore a special protective suit under his clothes during the funeral.
The rebbetzin was the daughter of Rabbi Shmuel David Unger, the Rabbi of Nitra, Czechoslovakia. She survived the holocaust and her brother-in-law, Rav Michoel Dov Weissmandel, suggested that she marry the Klausenberger Rebbe, who had lost his wife and 11 children in the holocaust.
At the time she was much younger than the rebbe and despite wishing to be married to a holy man she hesitated because of the age difference between them (the Rebbe was 42 at the time and she was 24). The rebbe promised her that he would help her marry off all of her children, which indeed happened.
The rebbetzin is survived by her two sons, the Admorim of Tzanz and Tzanz-Klausenberg, as well as her five daughters, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She will be buried in Netanya next to her illustrious husband.
The rebbetzin is pictured here with her daughter-in-law and granddaughter and with the Mayor of Netanya, Miriam Fireberg

BDE another loss of a generation that can’t be replaced
In middle of night? I hope the neighbors weren’t woken
Where are they burying her in the meantime?
B’DE, What a great loss to Klal Yisroel. An irreplaceable part of The Generation that we should learn to emulate. May she be a Melitza Yosher to Klal Yisroel.
But in truth was it necessary outing people’s lives and health on the line while the rebba wore protective garments inder his clothes
The picture should be removed.
It’s not respectful.
It is the most respectful picture possible, in that the Rebbe is giving the proper Kovod Hoachron while teaching others the mitzvah of Ushmartem Me’od es Nafshoseichem. Be proud of a Rebbe who does the right thing despite what it might look like. Boruch Dayan Haemes.
the Tzanz-Klausenberg Rebbe, who wore a special protective suit under his clothes during the funeral but what about the other people who were standing close to each other?
False piety!
do it via the telephone!
What are all those people doing out on the street?!
Chasidei Shoitah.
