WASHINGTON (AP) — President Donald Trump said he would “put a hold” on U.S. funding for the World Health Organization, before backtracking and claiming, “I’m not saying I’m going to do it.”

Trump made the comments at a White House press briefing as deaths and infections across the country continue to rise.
Trump at first announced he would be cutting off U.S. funding to the organization. But when pressed on whether it was the right time, given the current crisis, he told reporters he was only looking at the prospect.
Still, he criticized the organization, saying they “they missed the call” on the pandemic and claiming that they seem to be “very China-centric.”
He claimed, “They should have known and they probably did know.”
The WHO has praised China for its transparency on the virus, even though there is there is reason to believe that more people died of COVID-19 than the country’s official tally.
Throughout his presidency, Trump has voiced skepticism of many international organizations.
Man needs a scapegoat… He was calling this a flu (see his tweet 3/9/2019) well after people like Dr. Fauci (you can find interviews with him dating back to February) were warning this will be bad. Not until Tucker Carlson implored him personally did Trump change his tune on this. Can blame the WHO and China all he wants, but without addressing his not listening to what the experts in the US were warning, why would anyone assume anything would have been different (if in fact China and/or the WHO acted improperly here). Had Trump decided to listen to his own experts, he could have likely helped cut through the various red tape that hindered the US response to this (including dealing with the blocking of China from providing the US with needed info… he should have called his counterpart in China to make it happen. Did he?).
That is beyond idiotic
He always finds someone else to blame for his incompetence.
How about a hold on Trump because he missed the call on the virus despite briefings in January. Up until the 2nd week in March Trump claimed the virus was no worse than the flu and would disappear either in April or when the weather got warmer. Fox News shares the blame as does that loudmouth Limbaugh.
In Japan an honorable person who committed such an act of negligence would commit hari kari.

They missed the call because they were watching the impeachment hoaxers and detracting themselves and everybody else.
