ROCKLAND COUNTY (VINnews) — Rockland County Legislator Aron Wieder wants additional COVID-19 data to be immediately released to facilitate a deeper understanding of the local impacts of the virus.

“Without this information, we don’t fully know what we are dealing with and where intervention may be needed to help slow the spread of the virus and most importantly, save precious lives,” Legislator Wieder said.
Legislator Wieder said the County Executive and the County Health Department have been too narrowly focused on using only zip code breakdowns that show the numbers of people tested and the numbers of people who tested positive.
The information is misleading, he said, because what’s needed are the details about the numbers of deaths, hospitalizations and patients in intensive care – broken down by town and zip code.
“The death and hospitalization rates are indicative of what’s happening in a certain area even if large numbers of people aren’t getting tested in that area,” Legislator Wieder said.
The number of positive cases per zip code alone could mean more people in certain areas were being tested versus other areas of the county. For example, he said, while most people seeking tests in Rockland have probably gone to the Anthony Wayne testing site, many people from Monsey and Spring Valley have also been able to get tested closer to their homes at Med Rite in Spring Valley.
“What we need is data on the number of deaths, the number of people on ventilators and the number of people in the intensive care unit per zip code per town,” Legislator Wieder said. “That will be a true reflection of who is sick and how sick people are.”
Earlier this week, Wieder says he was on a conference call with Rockland County Executive Ed Day, who abruptly left the call when he brought up the issue of insufficient data.
Aron Wieder is a brave man.
What did Wieder contribute to the COVID-19 response besides Chilul Hashem and political squabbling? If you go to the county’s website you will see that the death information is already broken down by zip code – it’s all there. The phone call is a fake charade, not an actual call. Just an example of the stupidity that’s going on, the majority in Rockland blocked public safety resolutions proposed by Ed Day, such as a temporary a field hospital to help cope with the mounting cases, and limits on some products to restrict hoarding, and much more. Day also gave public briefings updating the public on COVID-19. In the legislative session this month, Wieder had no proposals to offer. What exactly is Wieder’s public safety title for if not to step up during a crisis? How exactly is my family and sick friends any safer because someone thinks he won a twitter argument. What were Rockland’s public safety commissioner Wieder and the new-age askonim doing? I’ll tell you. Fighting lame twitter wars and calling out perceived and actual anti semitism, that’s it! While Day certainly panders to anti-Semitic voters and may be an anti-Semite himself, and the call for complete lock-down was stupid and prejudiced, some of his other ideas could have been helpful. And instead of coming up with alternate ideas himself or safety measures, our safety commissioner has been playing keyboard warrior while people were dying. Maybe it’s time someone from Hatzalah takes over Wieder’s title? He’s clearly uneducated and made a fool of himself in front of our county officials. Is Mr. Wieder priorities people’s life’s or politics?
Here the death information from our county broken down by zip codes (Wieder’s district has the most). Mr. Wieder, while people are dying, it’s the wrong time to try to play political games.

That is hilarious! You know a guy is propagandizing when he puts his phone on speaker when he starts asking his question!
LOL.
Stop the political bulony, you want to do something great for the community? Teach them some Derech eretz, basic decent edict, how to wait nicely in lines, to think about thier neighbors, each one needs to know he is an ambassador of the entire tribe, when you look bad, we all look bad
Reb Wieder if you want to help the community – go around and close the shuls – In this situation every person that takes a risk and goes to shul, is not just jeopardising himself or his family, he is putting every citizen in danger. He goes to a gas station and pumps gas, the virus can live on metal for 2 days. Why should the goyim not hate us? If we saw another group not taking precautions and puts all of us at risk, how would we feel. Sorry, the Heiliga Chassdisha Rebbes that keep their shuls open are nothing but self conceited arrogant tzadikim.
Goot gezugt!
