NEW YORK (VINnews) — Mayor de Blasio said on Monday that he is proud of his daughter Chiara for getting arrested at a Manhattan protest, according to the Post.

De Blasio’s comments came at his daily City Hall press conference on Monday.
“I love my daughter deeply I honor her. I’m proud of her that she cares so much she was willing to go out there and so something about it,” said de Blasio.

25-year-old Chiara de Blasio was arrested Saturday night at a protest located at 12th Street and Broadway in Lower Manhattan. Police say that Chiara was blocking traffic, and refused their orders to move.
De Blasio said that his daughter did not inform him or his wife “of her intention to get arrested,” and he only heard about it through press inquiries to his office.
“She was acting peacefully,” the mayor said. “She believes everything she did was in the spirit of peaceful, respectful protest.”
The mayor continued, “I admire that she was out there trying to change something she thought was unjust and trying to do something in a peaceful manner.”
The mayor added that had he known about the arrest, he would not have withheld the information from the public.
“If I had known that my daughter was arrested, I would have been the first to let the public know,” he said, noting, “I found out when my staff got the media inquiry.”
The mayor has recently come under fire for placing a heavy focus on policing jewish areas of Brooklyn, including issuing summonses to small business owners for opening their businesses in violation of pandemic guidelines, rather than focus on addressing the thousands of violent thugs that have been terrorizing New York City all week by robbing, looting, and attacking our police force.
He needs to go. Attacks Jews, closes stores, kills people by not being good mayor during corona, but proud of daughter for destroying city. Nice

Disobeying police orders is now justified, even glorified. Protestors are expected to respect law, order and the police who are out there enforcing it. One bad policeman doesnt mean we throw out the system. The protestors, including DeBlasios daughter, have proven why we need a strong police force to begin with.
