JERUSALEM (VINNews) — A Jerusalem woman, the wife of a well renowned Torah scholar, contracted a debilitating virus twenty years ago. The virus attacked her body relentlessly and a number of her systems stopped functioning, leaving her bedridden and dysfunctional. She hardly ate and could not perform the most basic tasks.

Recently the woman contracted coronavirus and due to her previous condition she deteriorated quickly. Doctors did not give much hope of a recovery, since she was already weakened by her chronic virus. When she required intubation it seemed that there was little hope left.
However after a difficult battle with the virus, she succeeded in recovering sufficiently to remove her from the intubation. Her body fought the virus and unexpectedly she succeeded in leaving her bed to the amazement of all of the medical staff. Remarkably, the previous virus she had suffered from appeared to have been cured and she could perform all of her previous functions.
Doctors were stunned by the new development and could not understand how she could be walking as usual. After extensive tests it became apparent that the coronavirus had taken control of her body and had “eaten” the previous virus which had been attacking her for 20 years.
The delighted family decided to publicize the miraculous recovery of the woman, and the story was published in the Yated Ne’eman newspaper.
Someone was sick with something and got better, it is better to publicize nothing than a story that doesn’t have enough detail to make any sense.
I hope it’s true, but being that it’s the YN that reported it, It just reminds me from the garlic that ‘burns’ the coronavirus, and the Yeshiva boy that blows away Hamas with the breath of his Torah study.
Hashem has HIS ways! Chasdei Hashem!
Incredible story. God is great and interesting ways of doing things
I don’t know if true but I heard a similar story about someone with cancer. The coronavirus ate the cancer.
This is a known medical phenomenon which can happen on occasion, although quite rare. The new virus does not “eat” the old virus, that old virus has long gone but the T-cells which were originally attacking that virus haven’t withdrawn their attack, they continue to attack the person, which is why it is called an autoimmune condition. What the new virus can do (rarely) is redirect the T-cells away from attacking the persons own immune system and these killer T-cells fight the new virus and then withdraw their attack so that the person no longer suffers from an autoimmune condition. If this is the case here, this lady is extremely lucky b”H and it is indeed a miracle for her.
No, the virus gets eaten. The corona virus has been discovered to have sharp teeth, and medically proven and scientifinically shown has shown and proven that the teeth eat viruses, whether it’s for dinner or for supper, whether its for lunch or for brunch, weather in the desert, whether for dessert.
Hatzlocha!
I have mixed feelings about such stories (assuming if true). On the one hand, its amazing that she recovered from her chronic condition, on the other hand, such a story is finding joy in getting the virus when so many died and suffered from it. There are plenty that “recovered” that still are not back to 100% and have breathing issues or other issues.
Nice! Yeshivish people used to be more enlightened/studious about their topics (or that was my impression). Now they pepper it with statuses of their marital partner (mind you anonymously), and articulate it with primitive terms such as “eaten” – as if this is a translation of a biblical miracle that ancient Hebrew would state אכל. It shows the intellect of their readership has degenerated (or maybe it was always like that).
This is correct , it’s just like chad gadya where one thing eats another and then that thing gets eaten by something slightly bigger and stronger so on and so forth until there’s nothing left to be eaten because Ha-shem eats up the final thing , so the human being is then cured .
Everything has a purpose or multiple purposes for sure. The riots in New York with the homeless unleashed to communities like the upper west side will wake up the flaming white liberals and some will vote for Trump. There are benefits in everything that seems negative. Covid 19 stopped the yearly toeiva parades in Tel Aviv as well as Jerusalem and New York City. So there are reasons and benefits.
Since i am not a scientist or medical professional, i dont know the mechanics of a new infection removing a pre-existing infection. But i do have anecdotal evidence of such things happenig. For instance a bacterial infection that successfully removed viral molluscum from a child’s face. There is clearly a body defense mechanism where the immune system is triggered and enters a super fighting mode against all infection it encounters.
I know somebody personally that the same thing happened to. She was suffering from a chronic condition that needed painkillers all the time and after corona did not need it anymore. Its the hyper immune response that just gets rid of the latent infection as well as the current one.

“A Jerusalem woman, the wife of a well renowned Torah scholar,…
The delighted family decided to publicize the miraculous recovery of the woman…”
Who is the Torah Scholar?
If they are publicizing it then surely they put their name to it.
What was the virus that she suffered from for 20 years? Surly medical professionals would be trying to replicate this and provide a cure for other sufferers of this debilitating chronic condition.
If it is true, please provide more information of this amazing case.
(If there is no more information, then its nothing more than a hopeful moshul.)
Curious, that the two places I’ve seen this story both attribute it to the Hebrew Yated Ne’eman.
You would think a story of such importance, would be written up or at least announced in some medical journal.
Sorry for being a little cynical, if true I hope the medical field can study this for potential other yeshuos.
Quite a scientific journal, this Yated publication.
Would like to know what the virus was that the rebbetzin had, before she caught COVID-19. I also couldn’t find the info. for the earlier report on Yated Ne’eman’s website. Can someone provide the link to the Yated article about this story?
Thank you!
You guys are all really of why can’t you believe this story like a real Jew where is your faith !!!!
