Reckless Youth Fractures Skull Jumping From Pennybacker Bridge For Youtube Stunt

NEW YORK (VINnews) — A reckless youth decided to capture himself jumping from Pennybacker Bridge in Austin, Texas in order to “chase a dream” ended up spending three days in hospital with a fractured skull.

Saa Fomba, a Youtuber from Texas and self-described “chaser of dreams”, decided to perform the dangerous jump last week and to record it for his youtube followers. Despite ending up in hospital, Fomba uploaded the clip to Youtube, including pictures of himself in hospital.

“I hope this clip will motivate you to follow your dreams. ‘I don’t see no fun in living a normal life,’ he says to the camera moments before taking the potentially fatal jump.

The reckless stunt began with Fomba climbing the Pennybacker Bridge’s massive arch over the North Capital of Texas Highway as friends film from below. The bridge roadway is 100 feet from the water but the peak of the arch is much higher.

After reaching the peak, Fomba waves his arms, counts to three and takes the perilous leap into the water. He lands in the water with a frightening smack but emerges pretty quickly, calling for help.

Fomba manages to flag down a passing boat and is eventually brought back to the shore. The video also shows paramedics arriving to help Fomba, who lies on the ground clutching his head.

Fomba fractured his skull performing the stunt, spending three days in hospital. Asked whether it was worth it, Fomba responded that “no-one wished to get hurt, but it’s always worth following your dreams.”  Later he wrote on the video caption:

“You might see it as jumping for views, but I see more. I wasn’t built for just normal, I’m a dream chaser.

‘I don’t settle for less, I will leave my mark on this planet we call earth our home.”
