Today, Facebook’s independent oversight board ruled to uphold Facebook’s decision to suspend both the Facebook and Instagram accounts of the former president.
Facebook’s decision was made way back in January. It was made in light of the January 6th insurrection at the capitol, and the president’s role in encouraging it.
The board did, however, throw former President Trump a bone. They stated that the company’s “indefinite time frame of the suspension was not appropriate.”
The board noted that Facebook’s ruling was inconsistent with the manner in which they apply the rules to others. They requested that Facebook re-examine the issues within six months.
Trump as already responded to the ruling. “What Facebook, Twitter, and Google have done is a total disgrace and an embarrassment to our country.. Free Speech has been taken away from the President of the United States because the Radical Left Lunatics are afraid of the truth, but the truth will come out anyway, bigger and stronger than ever before. The People of our Country will not stand for it! These corrupt social media companies must pay a political price, and must never again be allowed to destroy and decimate our Electoral Process.”
There are twenty members on the committee. It is co-chaired by Helle Thorning-Schmidt and Michael McConnell.
Cancel culture at its best. How very sad. As long as the Aytollah is still allowed.
