HYPOCRITE: Black Fashion Podcaster Turned Civil Rights Activist Uses Anti-Semitic Tropes In Interview With Jewish Founder Of ManRepeller

NEW YORK (VINnews) — Fashion podcaster Recho Omondi has been under attack after her undisguised anti-Semitic diatribe during the course of an interview with socialite and ManRepeller founder Leandra Medine Cohen. During the interview, Medine Cohen stated that she had not until recently realized that she had grown up rich, despite growing up on the Upper East Side.

“I couldn’t stomach another white assimilated Jewish American Princess who is wildly privileged but thinks she’s oppressed,” Omondi said on the episode after ending the interview with Medine Cohen, according to a report by the Jewish Telegraphic Agency.

“At the end of the day you guys are going to get your nose jobs and your keratin treatments and change your last name from Ralph Lifshitz to Ralph Lauren and you will be fine.”

Omondi also falsely accused Jews of having been a large proportion of the “racist slaveowners” during the period when slavery was permitted and claimed that those slaveowners “saw Blacks as less than human.”

Omondi faced sharp backlash for her anti-semitic insinuations. One Twitter commentator, Avital Chizhik-Goldschmidt ,wrote that “This episode shamelessly equates Jewishness with wealth, power & privilege, mocking @leandramedine for it. It is frankly horrifying to see media outlets (@thecut, @dailybeast, etc) jumping to applaud this reinforcement of dangerous antisemitic tropes. Do better.”

Another Twitter user added, “It is so infuriating to see folks who say they are committed to justice push such blatant and crass lies and stereotypes.”

“Everyone wants history taught correctly to recognize racial inequality but then you see it completely falsified by those who believe they are doing so,” the user added.

Omondi later deleted the episode and reuploaded it without the offensive comments but there was no official apology forthcoming from Omondi, prompting one commentator to state that “Omondi is not acknowledging her biased beliefs and then when asked to be accountable, deleting them as if she can make it disappear, as if she can remove the few incriminating words from the inner source of her disdain for Leandra Medine Cohen”.
