Terrorist shoots Barel Shmueli at point blank range- “we didn’t know the terrorist had concealed a gun”

Barel’s mother Nitza eulogized him bitterly, saying that: “they sent you to be a target for the Hamas terrorists. You know Barel? The only answer I got from all of them, from the chief of staff, from your brigade commander, From the Southern Commander, I’ll tell you – light of your mother’s life – the curt answer I got was: ‘We didn’t know that the terrorist had concealed a gun in his underpants.’

“I address the entire world – you too, the government of Israel, the IDF, the police, the border police undercover unit: How did you not know that the terrorist had a gun? What did you think- that he would come with toffee candies? I want to hear one person say the terrorist came with toffee candies,” cried Nitza, adding that “the day after the event they closed the hole.” [through which Barel was shot]

Nitza expressed suicidal intentions as well, stating that “I promised I’m going in the wake of my son Barel. I can’t continue my life. Everyone here will take responsibility for his little sister who was his queen, and he was her king. We have no life. Prime Minister Bennett is a disgrace to the state of Israel. He calls up and doesn’t know the name of the soldier. In the merit of that soldier he vacationed for a few days with his family in the north, while my son guarded us.”

“Bennett, be brave and give up your position quickly. Bennett is sitting with the heads of Hamas in the Israeli government, what a disgrace for us!

“My son is not the first or the last victim. Our fighters, my son and his undercover unit, my son the sniper, you sent him with no possibility of shooting the terrorist. You sent him to the wall and said: Don’t be aggressive. A minute before my son left he sent a message to his friends, saying that: “this mission is unclear to me. I haven’t been at the Gaza strip for a year and a half, they told me not to shoot. I’m a sniper but the closest I can shoot is 300 meters.

“They placed him squarely in front of the terrorist. Where is the brigade commander? Why didn’t he come to me? My son came in critical condition went through critical operations, the brigadier came at 11PM to see the soldier, I threw him out. Where were you when he went through the operations?

“Leave. Mr. Bennett, I promise you, I promised the commander of the southern battalion that he would take responsibility and he promised me that he would, but I meant that he should take off his uniform. I promised I would fight him until his last drop of blood. Government of Israel, IDF, there’s a small girl here, take care of her.”

Members of the crowd shouted and cursed at the prime minister, Southern Command general Eliezer Toledano and Police Commissioner Kobi Shabtai, accusing them of “handcuffing” the soldiers.

Border Police Southern District Commander Tomer Eldar eulogized Barel, stating that he had asked his operations officer who had been hit and the answer he received was: “The best fighter in the unit.”

“I bow my head before you, hero,” Eldar said. “For nine days I accompanied you with prayer and hope. The stories about you didn’t stop. Whatever I will say today will not succeed in describing what you were and what you represented for your unit, your parents, your dear family. Not by chance you chose the best unit in Border Police- the undercover unit. Not by chance you chose the sniper’s unit -a special assignment. You knew that you could actualize your dreams and aspirations to protect this country and give of yourself for it, for your friends, for its future.

“You became a determined combatant who was always trying to improve and to do the best he could. Daily you participated in tens of terror foiling operations as well as fighting on the southern front in ambushes, arrests, terror prevention, and saving lives as well as actions which cannot be publicized. From the day you arrived at the unit you stood out as a dominant person who led his squad with the initiative, determination and dedication which so characterized you.”

“You fought bravely to protect the citizens of Israel and you fought for your life in the last few days. We will all remember your for your courage, determination, aspiring to excellence in your own unique way.”

“May your soul be bound in the bond of life.”

What a tragedy! The people of Israel should listen to this Mother and throw Bennett out. He has the chutzpah of calling this Mother and doesn’t know the name of her son. He needs to go with this “nothing” government.

Chareidim are smart. Why join an army with your hands tied behind your back. You can’t shoot at the terrorists. Take the bullet in your head like they did during the Holocaust so that Europe and the rest of the Jew haters will join in a nice eulogy. Shame on this anti Torah secular gvmnt. For gay parades they make sure there are enough police but to protect Jews they can’t.
