Although the fire happened on school campus, it was not inside the school building, rather a separate facility behind the school which is under construction. Girls were safely evacuated from the campus, and according to the school administration, no injuries have been reported. The school’s staff appears to have acted quickly and efficiently.

Rabbi Eliezer Stern, chief executive officer of Yeshiva of Spring valley, told VIN News that some of the girls were initially sent across the street to Grandview Elementary School until arrangements could be made for them to be brought to nearby shuls. Given the size of the school’s student body, 1,000 girls, they were split up by grade into many supervised groups. School staff kept the girls entertained, which included impromptu music and dance classes for the younger grades.

According to reports, Rockland Chaveirim arranged for heated buses for students to warm up.

The school sent a text to parents at 1:15, saying “BH everyone is safe and calm. The students are going back into the building.”

UPDATE:

The following email was sent to parents of YSV Girls school:

Dear Parents, amu”sh

As you may be aware, there was a fire today on the construction site behind the girls building.

First and foremost, we must express shevach and hodaah to Hashem Yisborach for everyone being safe.

Secondly, we would like to express our thanks to the local fire department and to Chaveirim of Rockland for their immeasurable help throughout the incident. We would like to recognize and express our appreciation to the principals, moros, teachers and staff members who, led our students to safety in a calm and professional manner.

We would also like to thank the Grandview Elementary School, K’hal Zichron Michoel and Khal Bais Elazar Zichron Moshe for welcoming our girls into their buildings until we were given clearance to return.

The first fire chief on the scene confirmed that the incident did not present an immediate danger to our building nor anyone in it. However, it was certainly a scene which was unsettling and even a bit frightening to some children. When discussing the incident with our children, it is very important to follow some general principles:

Allow your children to talk. Give them the forum to “let it out.”

Listen to your children discuss what happened today with a calm and reassuring demeanor. Our non-verbal message needs to be one of calm and control. As the adults, we need to consistently project calm and control.

When appropriate, let them know that this was a fire on a construction site and not in a school building, Boruch Hashem.

When appropriate, let them know that two different fire chiefs inspected our building and the construction site and deemed it completely safe to continue as before.

Of course, if you detect that your child may require a conversation with a professional, please contact one of our menahelos, Mrs. Jakubovics or Mrs. Subar, or our Preschool Director, Mrs. Jacobs, and they will be happy to help you.

May Hashem Yisborach continue to protect us all wherever we are.

Rabbi Yitzchok Grossbard
Dean

Isn’t there a frum majority on the school board in Monsey and Spring Valley? If they actually used the political power that was bestowed upon them by the majority of the voters, instead of trying to be like a Neville Chamberlain, they would have fired the entire anti-semitic administration and maybe even shut down the school. You can not appease the Jew haters, so just hit them where it breaks them; this way, they’ll think twice before trying to hurt the Jews.

Had that Yeshiva been a Black private school and that other school across the street would refuse the black kids entry,The BLM would of burnt the public school down and the principle there would be fired. And all the stinking liberal Nadler shcumer politicians would cry crockadile tears for the Black kids. For Jews these DemocRATs don’t care. Come next year every frum Jew should be registered to vote and kick out every liberal DemocRAt on every level of office.

This is the true face of the people that so called “worry about our wellbeing” that’s the true color of the idiots. Letting little girls freeze because they are not wearing a mask that protects kids from a virus that kills less than 0.1%. Sickos.

So how was the fire extinguished? The article makes no mention of any fire department responding. Did Chaverim put it out?
