JERUSALEM (VINnews) — Torrential rains over the weekend in Israel have led to flooding in many of the lower areas in the country. In many cities streets and even cars were submerged in water as the intense rains continued unabated from Friday. The Ganei Aviv neighborhood in Lod, home to some 18,000 people, was cut off by flooding and the municipality warned residents that the only way in and out of the area was by train. A number of houses in the Neve Yarak and Rakevet neighborhoods were evacuated as the water level rose.
