YAAKOV M: Tuesday’s Mass Shooting is More Proof that Jews Need to Vote Republican

The subway attack this week could have been prevented. Not by tougher gun laws, but by locking up repeat criminals and keeping them behind bars.

Subway shooter Frank James had at least fifteen prior arrests in New York and New Jersey (and likely many more in other states). The charges included burglary, theft of service, trespass, larceny, and disorderly conduct.

James posted terrifying online videos threatening violence and saying that humanity should be exterminated. Any cop could have seen his record, checked his social media, and identified him as a major threat.

In fact, any 10 year old could have figured out that he was a ticking time bomb.

Virtually every mass shooter or terrorist is known to police before the crime. Many have prior arrests and long rap sheets. They also, inexplicably, like to post videos on social media, spewing hatred and threatening to kill people.

But Democrat politicians, along with radical District Attorneys funded by George Soros, allow these monsters to be released again and again.

James possessed multiple weapons, even though current gun laws prevented him from legally obtaining a gun. In case you needed more proof that gun control laws are not the solution.

The solution is better law enforcement, tougher bail laws, and a justice system that locks up criminals, rather than trying to lock up the “evil” Trump family. (Functional security cameras in the subways would not be a bad idea either.)

Several weeks ago, five gang members in Sacramento carried out a mass shooting, killing six and wounding 12. That prompted President Biden to call for tougher gun laws and issue an executive order against “ghost guns” (which are homemade and not trackable).

Whatever your opinion about ghost guns, these laws will not prevent most shootings. They may score Biden brownie points with the anti-gun lobby, but they won’t solve the problem.

The shooters in Sacramento were vicious gang members with long criminal histories.

Dandrae Martin was wanted since 2015, with an outstanding warrant for a misdemeanor domestic violence charge. He was released from prison in 2020 after serving time for violating probation in two felony convictions, an attempt to commit aggravated assault, and a marijuana charge.

Smiley Martin has had run-ins with the law since at least 2013. In a letter last year to the Board of Parole Hearings, the DA’s office called Smiley’s criminal conduct “violent and lengthy.” They wrote that he committed several felony violations and had “little regard for human life and the law.”

A third shooter was wanted on multiple felony warrants that include domestic violence and gun charges.

Why were these monsters allowed to walk the streets? And more importantly, how did they obtain guns illegally?

The answer is not tougher gun laws. The answer is enforcing the current laws on the books, and locking criminals up for decades.

In New York this November, we will have a chance to change the system dramatically. New Yorkers are disgruntled (including independents and even some Democrat voters). Democrat candidates like Hochul are weak, which means that Republicans such as Lee Zeldin, Andrew Giuliani, and Rob Astorino all have a chance. They have vowed to be tough on crime, and reform the pathetic criminal justice system.

Isn’t it time for the frum community to put safety first, and endorse a Republican? How many more antisemitic incidents need to happen, and how many more shootings, until we wake up and realize what our priorities should be?

Better yet, the frum community needs to actively blacklist and expell all traitors that support the contemporary Democratic party. Our community would do just fine without the self-proclaimed “nobility”, “askanim” who are oseik al tzorchei atzmom and other money worshipers.
Am Yisroel can survive without them; they can’t survive without Am Yisroel. Either abandon the self aggrandizement and abandon the money worship, or get out!

Yaakov M is correct. If every frum yid over 18 would register to vote, crime would drop. Agudah makes a mistake. Instead of spending thousands of dollars on ads urging people to vote, the money would better put to use hiring people to sit outside all major shuls like Shomer shabbos or Landaus and register people to sign up to vote on the spot. Maybe give out a free small gift to those registering. There is no reason that we can’t impact the local elections. If every Yeshiva gets parents to conform to different rules of the Yeshiva, why can’t they insist every parent go vote. We could be helped by the high Yeshiva tuitions if politicians see our voting blocks. It’s not just free bus services and lunches would be given but a lot more. Politicians only care about staying in power both here and in Israel. Let’s act and make our streets safer and our lives easier.

Poorly argued.
Any cop could have seen his record, checked his social media, and identified him as a major threat.”
You really want police monitoring social media and taking action on that basis?
Are you really arguing for a “big brother” state?
Multiple arrests for minor stuff with no felony convictions. It easy to say he wouldn’t have committed this crime if he had been in jail but the other side of that is the need to incarcerate even more people (and we’re already #1 in that).
I don’t know Frank James but have to ask: what would you have done for him so that he wouldn’t have a life of petty crime? What would you have done to interrupt the cycle of anger that led to this outburst?
I’m not a left-wing progressive by any stretch of the imagination. I do have years of education and experience in public policy and know that it ain’t as simple as you portray.
Simplistic solutions are good for energizing the base but not for governing.

Anyone who is a member of the Democratic Party gets to vote in the primaries, which determine who will get elected almost always in NY State. We can support Republicans all we want, but if we don’t vote in the Democratic primaries, we have no say in the matter.

Politicians aren’t stupid. They know many Jewish groups don’t vote based on Morals, Security, or Quality of life. It’s solely based on who’s willing to throw the most Sheqels their way and that’s almost always the Democrats.

There is nothing more supercilious than people arguing about which side of the aisle is a better bet. They’re both, repugnicants and democruds, arrogant, obnoxious, self-promoting, self-serving, non-representatives. When they can walk into office as paupers and come out as multi-millionaires, it’s not the book or TV contract. The ignorant will continue to follow the crowd, it’s just easier. The system is rigged that even term limits are satisfactory enough. Try to encourage people to run for office and flee is what they do. Just look at the court selection process, a rip-off of the electorate, where the political clubs mete out the lines on the ballot for those judges that meet the criteria (whatever that is) and lawyers’ recommendations on those chosen are considered fodder. We have seen the enemy and he is us, enjoy the fruits of abdication.

Why were these monsters allowed to walk the streets? Because latitia janes ימח שמה וזכרונה is far too pre-occuppied with bringing fictitious charges against President Donald Trump, so is simply depleted of time & resources to attend to any other case.

& definitely every sane normal person will vote Republican, and never ever again for a wicked democrat.

Author is 100% right. Suspect Frank James is a registered republican in Wisconsin.

He bought the weapon he used for the subway shooting legally in Ohio. Ohio barely has any gun laws. If it had had NY gun laws, he would not have had that gun. More reason to vote Democratic.

There is no such a thing as a illegal gun, all guns are manufactured and sold as legal guns, the question is what happens with it later.

Anyone referring to “a gun” as “illegal” is misguiding. You should refer to the bearer as illegal, “an illegal carrier of a legal gun”.

The concept of an illegal gun is a creation of the NRA.

The writer is correct with many of his observations, but remember, it’s GOP who is distributing guns in the US.

It’s not about Red and Blue. It’s about those politicians who are tough on crime vs. those who are lenient on crime.

Crazy people will always use guns to kill people as long as they are available to buy. Who you vote for won’t change that

If Americans had the sense they would get tougher gun laws, and then they wouldn’t have to “lock up repeat criminals and keep them behind bars”.
