ELAD (VINnews) — An Elad resident named David Amar came close to being a victim of Thursday’s terror attack in Elad, but thankfully survived. The reason? He says it’s all due to a bowl of Cholent.

“Two terrorists were holding axes while in the middle eating cholent inside our vehicle,” David told Bechadrei Chareidim. “The terrorists came from all sides of the vehicle. A friend of mine threw his bowl of boiling hot Cholent at one of the terrorists. The food was hot and the terrorist was burned so he backed off, and I just grabbed onto the axe and I managed to push it, and he flew three steps back. Then the second terrorist again tried to hit my friend, but my friend pushed him away, and they left us.”

David explained that they originally intended to eat outside in the park, where the attack actually occurred, but they saw that the park was packed with children, so they decided to eat in the car instead.

David said that he and his friend injured their hands due to glass from the car.

“The terrorists saw we were fighting so they looked for other victims,” he said.

David tweeted after the attack, “I was in a terrorist attack in Elad. The terrorists came in front of me and another friend alone with huge axes. My whole hand was bloodied, but I was miraculously saved. Thank God!”

While it’s great that they weren’t injured, I think it’s a bit too early for them to be putting out a “saved by the cholent” story. There are too many other people who do not have a good ending whose blood is still warm. They should have waited a week or two for their 15 minutes of fame.
