Dear Friends,
I’m sitting and writing this letter at my son’s bedside, here in the hospital in Kherson, Ukraine.
I write, and I weep. I write, while my heart pounds in terror.
I’m hoping that this letter will stir your compassion, because words that emerge from the heart inevitably penetrate the heart.
When Eliezer was diagnosed with epilepsy shortly after birth, our world went black.
We were devastated. We didn’t know how we’d cope with the challenge and heartbreak.
But we picked ourselves up and resolved to face the future and whatever hardships Hashem would send with joy and faith.
Little did we know what He had in store for us…
Little did we know that epilepsy was just a taste of what was soon to come…

Eliezer began displaying odd symptoms, but everyone assured us that they would pass.
Eventually, we were sent for testing and then received a call to come urgently for a consultation. We met with the doctor, a seasoned, veteran professional, but even he choked up when delivering the fateful news that our only child, our darling Eliezer, not only has epilepsy, but also has a malignant tumor in his brain.
Our ben yachid! Our little Eliezer, who’s already suffered more than any child should ever suffer, is in mortal danger!
We were rushed into a battery of tests and then began immediate treatment, since every day was critical.
And then, along with the battle for Eliezer’s life, we suddenly found our country embroiled in war.
While fighting to save Eliezer’s life, we’re now fighting for our own lives, as well!
We’re here in the Kherson Hospital in Ukraine. Stuck here, unable to leave, because of Eliezer’s delicate condition. The doctor warned us that if we delay treatment even briefly, it will be too late to save him.
We need to fly Eliezer urgently to Israel to continue treatment. This is an emergency, and we can’t wait!
ZAKA will take him in an ambulance straight from the plane and provide a medical escort for the flight, but…
First we have to leave.
And we can’t afford to leave our war-torn country.
Before war broke out, the cost of flying Eliezer to Israel was $50,000.
Since the outbreak of war, the cost has tripled to $150,000, excluding treatment and any surgeries that he’ll need in Israel.
So now, we have no choice to wait.
But the tumor isn’t waiting. It’s growing and spreading at an alarming rate!

Dear friends! We always did our best to help others. We opened our home and heart to any Jew in need of help, a meal, or place to stay.
We never imagined we’d get to this point, but now we’re turning to each and every one of you with a desperate plea for survival!
Eliezer is our only child! We can’t lose him!
Open your hand and heart! Help us leave this war-torn country, and give Eliezer a chance to live!
