WASHINGTON — President Joe Biden struck a somber and serious tone, calling for new gun restrictions, in an address to the nation after 18 children were killed in a shooting at a Texas elementary school.

“When in God’s name are we going to stand up to the gun lobby? When in God’s name do we do what we all know needs to be done?” Biden asked.
Biden, whose lost both a son and a daughter, was joined by first lady Dr. Jill Biden at the White House on Tuesday night.
“Why are are willing to live with this carnage? Why do we keep letting this happen? Where in God’s name is our backbone?” Biden said, adding later, “It’s time to act.”
Biden called on the nation to pray for the parents and siblings of those dead. “To lose a child is like having a piece of your soul ripped away,” he said.
I am a conservative except for gun control. Every gun should be banned and if someone feels a need for one he should have to get it from the local police department not from some random gun dealer. I know the dumb argument its the people who kill not the guns. Those supporting the NRA make it sound like the second amendment was given on Har Sinai. It wasn’t, It was written in the 1700’s and its time to update it for 2022. its time to stand up to the gun lobby who once again has blood on its hands.
What’s the point of making new laws? Currently, the leftist DAs don’t prosecute crimes and allow murderers out in cashless bail due to bail reform. Making new laws won’t help if they are treated like the old ones.

Stop bringing up the memories of your son. I understand it is sad for you, but most people hear you say that over and over and over again, we turn off. If anyone really cares what you’re saying anyway.
Aren’t there laws on the books already that should prevent murders? Was I missing it? We don’t have any laws on the books, state, local, even federal, to say that murder is illegal? We need more laws? How about enforcing existing laws?
Leftists always want to make more laws because they think they have the answer for everything. Well, you don’t!

There are plenty of gun laws that are broken in almost every murder. The “bad guys” manage to get guns when they want them somehow.
More laws will just prevent legal gun owners from being able to protect themselves.
We don’t need MORE laws we need to enforce the ones we have. That would take care of probably 90% of killings
Biden has been in the Government for how many years now? 49 years or so.
“The time now is to act” – umm, what has he been doing for 49 years? If he has been doing anything, it hasn’t worked. If he hasn’t done anything – why not.
What is he actually proposing – nothing. He is just as useless as always – all talk and no action.
Yes we have to act, ban gun free zones unless they have armed security and all states should be shall issue for concealed and open carry so more law abiding citizens can carry guns, to stop the bad guys.
