Bennett Warns Iran ‘Dangerously Close’ To Nuclear Weapon, Will Not Stop ‘Until It Is Stopped’

JERUSALEM (VINnews) — In an interview published Saturday in the British Telegraph newspaper, Israeli Prime Minister Bennett warned that Iran is already “dangerously close” to producing nuclear weapons and hinted at a possible future attack on the nuclear installations, stating that “Iran will not stop until it is stopped.”

Bennett said that “Iran is enriching uranium at an unprecedented rate and moving dangerously close to getting their hands on nuclear weapons”, adding that the global community needs to be  involved in pressuring Iran to cease its nuclear ambitions.

Bennett called on the global community to join Israel and ramp up pressure against Iran’s nuclear program and ambitions.

“Without pressure from the West, the Islamic regime in Iran could get their hands on a nuclear bomb very soon,” he said.

“The world must take a firm stance and tell the Islamic regime in Iran: no nukes, no sanctions. ran’s nuclear program won’t stop until it’s stopped.”

Bennett said that Iran’s economy was on life-support and that the regime could be compelled to sign a nuclear agreement with the US that would be acceptable to Israel in exchange for sanctions relief.

Last week, the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) adopted a resolution criticizing Iran for its refusal to cooperate with its inspectors and called for Iran to begin cooperating with the nuclear watchdog agency. The resolution came after Iran said it had disconnected some of the IAEA surveillance cameras monitoring its nuclear sites. The IAEA said that this would prevent inspectors from tracking uraniam enrichment levels at key sites.

In three to four weeks, it would be unable to maintain a “continuity of knowledge” about Iran’s program,” IAEA chief Rafael Mariano Grossi said Thursday. “This would be a fatal blow” to negotiations over Iran’s tattered 2015 nuclear deal with world powers, Grossi said.

Iran also announced Thursday that it has begun injecting gas into newly installed advanced uranium enrichment centrifuges.

The head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran, Mohammad Eslami, who made the announcement during an interview with Iranian national TV, claimed the decision was in line with international regulations.

Eslami did not specify where the centrifuges in question were located. But his announcement came on the same day the UN’s nuclear watchdog reported that Tehran had informed it of its plan to install two new cascades of advanced centrifuges at the underground Natanz nuclear facility that will allow it to rapidly enrich more uranium.

Iran still claims that its nuclear facilities are not designed to build a nuclear bomb but international experts are concerned at the increasing lack of cooperation by Iran with monitoring agencies and believe that uranian enrichment is far beyond what is required for domestic nuclear usage.
