Lakewood’s “Sary Wigs” Closes Instagram Account ‘To Make Space for Something Higher’

FILE - This Friday, Aug. 23, 2019, file photo shows the Instagram app icon on the screen of a mobile device in New York. Instagram is testing new ways to verify people's age to use the service, including a face-scanning artificial intelligence tool, having mutual friends verify their age or uploading an ID. But the tools won't be used, at least not yet, to try to keep children off of the popular photo and video-sharing app. Rather, they are only for verifying that someone is 18 or older. LAKEWOOD (VINnews) — Shaindy Braun has decided to close her “Sary Wigs” Instagram page, which has over 40,000 followers.

She wrote one final post, including this excerpt: “I am making this choice to close this page in order to make space for something higher. I want more אמת and more קדושה in my life and by extension for all of you my dear followers.”

The decision comes one day after Wednesday’s “Nekadeish” event for women warned of the dangers of technology and social media, although it’s not clear if there is a connection.

The negative energy and statements in the comments are SHOCKING!!!

Kol Hakoved and what a Kiddish Hashem, Yes Instagram is a great tool for business, and I’m sure it helped Her/them a lot in business too… and giving it all up for Kdushe and Hashem is simply being מקיים the words that we say 3 times a day ובכל מאודך…

And to the negative comments.. Stop being busy with Rabunim all day long, and start talking to your self…. and leave the Rabunim out of the pic… (its not what they say)

How much time do u focus a day on your kids by giving them love and spending time with them, ?? we sit on the couch for 5 min, and we are right away back on social media, we all know it!!!

And instead of focusing on the issue and looking into yourself, you will circle back “Rabunim Rabunim etc”…. STOP.

It has nothing to-do with the Rabunim, its just being a normal human being what we have totally lost!

Kudos. I know of a story where a fashion shop posted a picture of one of their customers and that customer then found that picture circling on a goyisha site… not sure where the heter is for a woman to take a photo of herself and let it circulate on social media? I dont think R’ Chaim, R’ Moshe, Satmar Rav, Rav Eliyashiv, Bobov Rabbi, or any decent rav from any walks of life would give a heter for that. People have totally lost their morale

Wow I can’t believe this! I was just thinking tonight how much fake there is even in our Frum Jewish world…
I know there are alot of Frum Women Influencers and it seems that there really trying to do good things. However, it’s not what a Jewish Modest Woman should do especially if she’s married. It never made sense to me and I’m far from being one with strong views. It’s just very hard to be OK with it. Doesn’t make any sense.

WOW this women is gold! may she have a beautiful life with nachas and all the brachos!

and to all the cotton-picking naysayers; it would be nice for you to understand that not everybody grew up like you and for some even wearing a wig is HUGE and unheard of in their circles . so please if its possible stop bashing and start seeing other people in good light. the world is very big and although you might think that you know it all theres a huge world out there. START UNDERSTANDING the world aint your little bubble.
thank you

Go the KEDUSHA WAY, stop selling the Takruvei Avoda Zorah hair shaitels.
Yes cold turkey.
Sell only synthetic.

While it’s a great step to leave instagram spreading real emes and kedusha means not selling these wigs. The wigs today are the biggest stumbling block for men.
Please let us know when sheitel companies start selling short unnatural wigs and tichels. That will be a big kiddush Hashem and real emes and kedusha…

I think she should take it one step further and stop selling long wigs with such natural parts that the hair looks like it’s growing out from the head. What a Michshoil you have to look twice to see if it’s a married woman.

How about going the full kedusha and not sell any real hair wigs as they are all takruvei avoda zorah.
Only sell the synthetic ones.
Not the long ones.

Never heard of her before, but it’s a shame that she closed the account. I would have been the 40,001’st follower.
