WASHINGTON (Yaakov M / VINnews) — On CNN’s “Newsroom,” National Economic Council Director Brian Deese defended President Biden’s remarks earlier Thursday, saying Americans need to suffer with high gas prices for “as long as it takes” to defeat Putin.

Deese said Biden’s remarks were about what was at stake, the “future of the liberal world order.”

“What you heard from the president today was about the stakes,” he said. “This is about the future of the liberal world order, and we have to stand firm. But at the same time, what I’d say to that family, to Americans across the country is, you have a present administration that is going to do everything in its power to blunt those price increases and bring those prices down. Good news, over the last two weeks, we’ve seen the price at the pump come down about 20 cents, but it is still unacceptably high.”

The problem with what he said is not his reference to the “liberal world order”. That, as another commenter noted, was referring to being in opposition to Russia taking on another nation after Ukraine although his choice of description is perhaps telling, since he thinks being against Russia’s designs is something for liberals, but not for conservatives).

The problem with his remarks is that it is all lies. Blatant, obvious lies. The only way to lower the price of gas is for the US to be energy-independent, like we were for a few years under Trump. We aren’t anymore because Biden, on his first day in office, cancelled all fracking and drilling leases, so now we need to buy oil from places like Russia (although we may have bought gas from Russia under Trump, we didn’t need to, and Putin knew it, so prices were low). He also shut down construction of the Keystone pipeline, whose continued construction was keeping prices down because vendors knew that once the pipeline goes live, they’re history unless their pricing is very competitive. So Biden is doing NOTHING, not “everything he can”.

A bunch of leftist liars, that’s who they are…

Of course the rich don’t mind paying more for gas and food, they don’t have a clue how these prices are affecting the average citizen. Spend a week in our shoes then tell me it’s okay.

There is nothing nefarious about the term “liberal world order”.
It simply means the opposite of the authoritarian regime of Russia.
If Russia conquers Ukraine they will go on to conquer more countries.

I am perfectly willing to pay more for gas as long as we keep killing Russians. Keep your eyes on the prize.
