AUGUSTA (VINnews) — A large metal object crashed to the ground on Friday, apparently from an airplane.

The sleeve-like object, weighing about 6-7 pounds, landed several feet from Maine’s Capitol building. Several people were nearby and witnessed the incident, however nobody was injured.
The Maine Department of Public Safety says a large metal object crashed to the ground outside the main entrance of the Maine State Capitol building on Friday.

The FAA has launched an investigation to try to find the origin of the aircraft part. (Although it is very likely that it fell from an airplane overhead.)
