Israeli Transport Minister Sends Covert Supervisors To Chareidi Buses To Check For ‘Feminine Exclusion’

JERUSALEM (VINnews) — Transport Minister Merav Michaeli caused an uproar after her controversial decision to send covert supervisors to buses in chareidi cities in order to determine that there is no ‘feminine exclusion’ taking place, with women being forced to sit at the back of the buses.

Michaeli wrote in a Twitter message without referring to chareidim specifically that “women are human beings. Equal. Therefore one cannot exclude them anywhere. Thus there is no place for feminine exclusion on buses, and we will ensure that. The transport ministry headed by me will begin extensive enforcement against violence and feminine exclusion on public transport.

“How many times have we heard about women being prevented from ascending to a bus because a certain driver felt they weren’t modest enough? How many times have women been forced to sit at the back of the bus? This phenomenon must cease.

“I initiated the program, which will begin in September as covert supervisors will get on buses and ensure that women are not excluded on buses. A sharp message has also been conveyed to drivers not to permit incidents like this and that those who allow them will bear responsibility. Female exclusion has a price, we have ceased being silent.”

Michaeli said that the ministry has appointed an officer to oversee gender equality and as of September 5-10 supervisors will travel on 20 routes where there have been complaints of exclusion, mainly in Jerusalem, Bnei Brak and Beit Shemesh. The supervisors will be authorized to give fines against the companies and to open an investigation against the drivers or passengers who exclude women.

Michaeli’s move has been met with derision and scorn from many chareidi and religious elements. Beit Shemesh mayor Dr. Aliza Bloch said that “at any given time thousands of my constituents, religious and secular, young and old, students and pensioners, are standing at bus stops in sun and rain waiting for buses that do not arrive. It is upsetting that Michaeli has chosen to run her campaign by ignoring the students who don’t arrive at classes or the old people who don’t make it to their doctors.”

Meir Rubinstein, head of the forum of chareidi municipal authorities and mayor of Beitar Illit, said that “the worst transport minister in Israel’s history is trying to run her campaign on the backs of the chareidim, who have chosen to keep the rules of modesty and halacha wholeheartedly. Who are you, Mrs. Michaeli, to try and impose on a million people your way of life? Who are you and who do you represent? With what audacity and impertinence do you wish to foist on the chareidi public your fantasies? The chareidi public was here before you and will be here long after you are gone. We pray that you will soon disappear from the public eye with your ’empty wagon’ and your evil reforms.”

Former transport minister Betzalel Smotrich tweeted that “the most failing minister who has demonstrated total paralysis in the face of traffic jams on roads, on public transport, in airports and ports, is involved in cheap populism. We will substitute her after the elections and deal with the real problems plaguing the citizens of Israel.”

The transport minister is correct. Israel is not a religious state it is a full fledge secular state. It happens to be that religious Frum Yidden live there as well.

The ashiest founding fathers of Zionism and the state of Israel hated the Jewish religion and the Torah. They did not envision a Jewish state where Jews should be able to observe Torah Umitzvot as given on Har Sinai. Not this was their goal.

I am rather surprised I have never heard of a woman knocking the teeth out of a man giving her a hard time on an Israeli bus. Does this in fact happen?

Would she send covert supervisors to IDF bases to observe how religious soldiers are treated?

In America, when I travel by bus or subway I bring with me a pop-up Sukkah (without Schach). I open it up, stand inside and close it ensuring I don’t touch or see a women. It’s a great way to protect my Kedusha. I told my Ruv and he was so excited by the idea that he “Recommended” to the men in the Kehilla that they do the same. Look out for popup Sukkahs on a subway near you.

There should be alternating separate buses for men and women , plus a separate coed option . Problem solved . In Mexico City , women some years ago demanded separate buses to protect themselves from male predators .

I live in Ramot and travel the buses frequently. It has been years since people have asked women to move.
Generally frum men sit together and frum women sit together. If a non religious women sits next to a frum man, which is rare, he will get up and move.
So let this antisemetic liberal woke pro Arab lady look, she won’t find unless she plants a few people….

Zionists spy on Jews. Zionists sabotage Jews.
Anybody out there still believes we have a “Jewish state”?

I think if she tries doing her shtick and starts trying to stop chareidim there won’t be any busses left in Israel. They will be destroyed.
