UNITED KINGDOM (VINnews) — A Charedi school in Hackney has been told by the British government that it cannot have an admissions rule prohibiting incoming students from using social media at home.

The Office of Schools Adjudicator found that Yesodey Hatorah Senior Girls’ School’s admissions rules do not comply with government regulations, even though the school is subsidized with government funding.

In its decision, the office said only public activities could be required or prohibited for admissions purposes. Although the school considered social media activity to be public, the government says it is private.

The agency said that the admission rules at Yesodey Hatorah said that “home entertainment is strictly not allowed”. In the eyes of the adjudicator, that means “any entertainment accessed online via any computerised device. This includes online gaming or any online presence which involves personal social use.”

The adjudicator felt the use of the word “home” was incompatible “with a requirement that another person can provide confirmation as to what has taken place (or not taken place), as if it were occurring in the public domain.”

The agency also told the school that it may be required to accept more students this year as its current entry maximum was too low.

State-subsidized religious schools are permitted to require certain levels of observance but the rules need to be “fair, clear and objective”.

Again, this is what happens when we take government funds.

Stop taking their money and they will leave us alone.

Unfortunately, the British government is right. They make the rules, and if you don’t like them, DON’T TAKE GOVT MONEY.

We can now get a peek at what New York State may look like down the road if we allow the government to get a stranglehold on the education requirements in our yeshivas.
Yes, we need to up our game, if only to push away the government and the Moster creeps.
(As a long-time teacher in Heimishe schools, I have incorporated some civics lessons. Just yesterday I taught about MLK, civil rights, and discrimination. B”H the boys respond well to these “novel” ideas. I told my principal to tell any parent that pushes back and complains, that they’re the ones that need these lessons the most)

what the UK government doesn’t get is that by us Cheredim , in the eyes of our holy leaders, our homes are just extensions of their domains, our homes are essentially public domain, and its their right to control every little detail of what happens within it walls

while at the same time, according to their understanding, their public communities are their PRIVATE domain & its the publics business what they do…. even when their actions (embezzlement of public funds for example) leads to anti-Semitism
