NEW YORK (Yaakov M / VINnews) — Israel’s Ambassador to the UN sent a scathing letter to the Executive Editor of the NY Times, Joseph Kahn, blasting the newspaper’s egregious anti-Israel bias.

In the sharply-worded letter, Gilad Erdan accused the paper of “whitewashing Palestinian terror” and “the propagation of half-truths.” He also said the Times “not only twists the truth, but also incentivizes terrorism.”

He attributed the massive increase Jew-hatred to the newspaper, at least in part, saying, “The New York Times’ libelous narratives are actively contributing to the growing hatred of my country.”

In a tweet showing the letter, Erdan wrote: “I presented data proving the @nytimes shows a distorted image of Israel. During 2022, there were almost 2x more number of opinion columns against Israel than Iran & only 4 articles published against Hezbollah/Hamas/Islamic Jihad. The Times encourages hatred of 🇮🇱 & endangers Jews.”

The data is based on a study by Bar-Ilan University throughout 2022. There were 361 articles on Israel, most of which disparage Israel and brand it a human right’s violator. The number of opinion columns condemning Israel was almost double the number of columns condemning Iran.

Erdan also observed that “The Times published only four negative articles about Hezbollah, Hamas, and Islamic Jihad combined.”

The letter reads in part, “The cornerstones of journalism ethics are truth, accuracy, and objectivity – values that, when it comes to Israel, The Times deliberately refuses to uphold. When The New York Times chooses to demonize Israel, the very least professional journalism demands is that the reader be exposed to the whole story in order to formulate an unbiased opinion. Yet when The Times reports Israel’s actions with nearly non-existent context, it actively contributes to warping the truth.”

“Due to your, your readers are hardly aware of these Jihadist organizations’ existence, let alone the constant threat they pose to Israel. In the future, if Israel is again forced to defend itself against indiscriminate Palestinian rocket fire on our homefront, whether from Gaza or Lebanon, your readership will unknowingly infer that Israel is the aggressor, despite the exact opposite being true. Through this deceitful coverage, The Times not only twists the truth, but also incentivizes terrorism.”

“As you are aware, antisemitism is rising at a terrifying rate. Much of today’s violent Jew-hatred takes the form of Israel-hatred. And part of the blame for this growing bigotry lays on your shoulders. The New York Times’ libelous narratives are actively contributing to the growing hatred of my country, and as a result, your publication plays a role in endangering Jews around the globe.”

I truly can’t understand why somebody would be trying to point out the obvious to people who are fully aware of the truth and simply don’t care. By you writing them this letter you are implying that they are simply wrongly informed.

They know the entire truth and simply hate us. Why are you implying that they’re innocent when they’re as guilty as can be.

They always hated ISRAEL and the orthodox and quite frankly are totally indifferent to the murder of Jews.

Stop wasting your time writing them letter. First off all they don’t care. Secondly you’re making them look somewhat innocent.

So when Americans talk about Israel’s internal affairs, we are told to butt out. When Israelis talk about our internal affairs we are supposed to listen.
