JERUSALEM (VINnews) — As huge demonstrations and traffic disruptions spread throughout Israel in a “Day of Disruptions” orchestrated by groups opposed to the judicial reforms, the Knesset continues to promote the laws which will make up the reform. Despite the tensions within the government, with the resignations of Avi Maoz and Meir Porush and the disputes between the prime minister and National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir, the legislation is expected to be ratified by coalition members.

The initial discussions will take place in the Law Committee headed by Simcha Rothman, which will discuss the override law and how it could allow for certain judicial audits of regular laws. Additionally a special committee will discuss how to legislate a law allowing Aryeh Deri to serve as a minister.
A third committee, the internal affairs committee, will discuss preparations for the Rashbi festivities. On Tuesday Meir Porush resigned his responsibility for Lag Ba’Omer, claiming that he was not being given jurisdiction over the festivities.
Three other private bills are set to arouse controversy in the Knesset plenum: The death penalty law for terrorists, which Prime Minister Netanyahu is considering allowing Likud members to vote on freely according to their conscience, the law defining incapacity for prime ministers (to prevent the court from claiming Netanyahu is incapacitated due to legal issues) and the law freezing interest on mortgages submitted by Moshe Gafni.
The death penalty law is opposed by Chareidim, who are concerned it could be used against Jews in the future. The UTJ will abstain while Shas will support the law at the first reading. However Liberman’s Yisrael Beitenu party has said that it will support the law.
The incapacity law will be used by the coalition parties to pressure the prime minister, who wants the law to pass, to validate his coalition agreements and transfer the budgets to the relevant parties.

What beautiful achdus. Now I definitely want to make aliyah and join in these days of disruption and start some rolling dumpster fires by cellphone stores.
ummm, what would have happened if when the left was in control of the Israeli government the opposition (right) would have behaved so badly
