WATCH: Chareidi Seminar Girls Register 96% Success Rate In Israel’s Tough CPA Exams- What Is Their Secret?

17

JERUSALEM (VINnews) — In a little noticed news flash this week, Finance Committee chairman Moshe Gafni noted the astonishing success of the Beis Yaakov seminar students in Israel’s national CPA examinations, noted for their difficulty and low pass rates.

In the autumn 2022 examinations, 91 out of 95 seminar girls passed the examinations, a remarkable 96% pass rate which is even more impressive when compared with the results of the leading Israeli universities and colleges teaching the same materials. Tel Aviv University registered a pass rate of 57%, while the Hebrew University showed a pass rate of 33% among its students and Haifa University with a 60% pass rate.

Some of the colleges faired better, including the Ruppin College and the College of Management academic studies, but none came close to the chareidi achievement.

The former head of the Israel Accounting Council (IAC) in Israel, Irit Stark, said that part of the success is due to reforms she instituted while heading the council, enabling the chareidi students to study all the material which is taught in university classes and receive a waiver from 14 of the rigorous tests and due the 2 main examinations like their peers in other institutions.

Stark said that this allowed more chareidi sem girls to join the profession and added that “there is no doubt their contribution to the profession will be significant. This will lead to many other girls joining these studies and the Beit Yaakov seminaries will become one of the major institutions teaching accounting. Integrating the students into the workforce will improve the salary rates of their families and provide a badly-needed professional force for the accounting profession, which needs more successful professionals.”

When asked about what brought their phenomenal success, some of the girls told Kan news that they had been singlemindedly involved in the subject matter for the last two years. Maayan Chanun, one of the girls, said that “our goal was to study, gain certification and work and when you are goal-oriented you go all the way.”

Chaya Seruk, another successful CPA, said that it wasn’t just the effort invested, it was also the prayers involved: “A week before the test everyone I met, I asked to pray for my success. The day before a large group of girls from our class went to the Kotel and prayed for our success. My aunt said Tehillim until the exam was over.

Seruk stressed that the girls didn’t have any leniencies over the universities and studied the same materials at the same level and this was the secret of their success.

The girls hope that their success will lead Chareidi women to reach high positions in the leading accounting firms in Israel.

Not such a mystery.

In other systems, the best students have lots of academic and professional options.

Not so among Israeli haredi girls.

With haredi girls, the CPA program represents the top 1%.

No offense to CPAs here, but with non-haredim, no way the top 1% (or even the top 25%) would be going to a CPA program.

So, the haredi program is getting the very best students, while the non-haredi programs are not.
