In their letter, the Rabbis emphasize the importance of Religious Zionist yeshiva students taking to the streets to join the effort to present the issues to the public in an accurate and informative way. .

Those who signed the letter include Rabbi Dov Lior, Rabbi Chaim Steiner, Rabbi David Chai Hacoheh, Rabbi Shlomo Aviner, Rabbi Shmuel Eliyahu, and Rabbi Yigal Levinstein.

The letter begins, “Baruch Hashem we have merited that in recent elections leaders were chosen who want to stop the אטרשממט of the judges and their allies who usurped power upon themselves without the will of the community, without being elected…”

It continues, “Unfortunately, there is a small group of anarchists which receives donations from abroad to disseminate lies about the government using all the tools of mass media, to convey the impression that these reforms will turn the country into a dictatorship, that Israel will turn into Iran and women will be enslaved,” the letter says, according to a translation. “It’s as if right-wing and religious voters are incapable of independent thought, as if there are no genuine problems with the judiciary — as if the entire goal is to exonerate the prime minister from his trial.”

“We are obligated to mobilize in support of fixing the broken judicial system here. We must also help all those who innocently believe the propaganda, and enable them to see the truth. Each and every person should do whatever he can — standing at crossroads with signs, giving explanations, donating money. Each one of us must do his part, and together we will prevail.”

The only resaon for “judicial reform” is to create a theocracy and end democracy, so Bibi can stay out of jail. His govt will soon collapse.

The problem with the reform is that people could be elected later who are not in favor of the dati. There should be a better way of having judges. The compromise by the president of Israel seemed a little better.
How can the rabbis have students be bitul Torah for this? Wouldn’t it be better if they said Tehillim instead?

It’s about time people are beginning to understand that this is necessary for the medina. He can’t have a single non-elected person making decisions for the country. It’s not what democracy is about. (We’re not getting into the exact definitions of what a democracy really is etc etc.)

“…senior Rabbis from the Dati Leumi ”

The headline implied that it was “rabbis”, as in normative Judaism, by stating only “Senior Rabbis Tell Yeshiva…”.
The headline should be fixed.

Taking learners out of beis midrash in order to involve them in politics is a sure road to a long term loss. Let this nonsense be confined to Religious Zionist yeshivos.
