JERUSALEM (VINnews) — The Association of Boyan Talmudei Torah sent a letter to parents of children in their cheder system announcing a new dress code for all the children in the system.
As part of the new initiative, parents will be able to purchase clothing for their children via a specific company which will import shirts, pants and sweaters in a style fitting for the chasidic children. From the next school year children from second grade upwards will not be able to appear in school in other types of clothes.
In a letter to parents of some 4000 children Ken Yirbu in the Boyan educational system, the association wrote that “From times immemorial chasidim and men of valor were always strict about their clothing looking correct and proper. “Chasidic clothing” of days bygone.
“In the last few years children’s clothes in accordance with chasidic custom are hard to find and therefore people purchase what is available, clothes of different and strange types which were not seen in our circles a few years ago and even now are not acceptable to parents who wish to maintain a chasidic life style.
“This important matter has reached the principals and teachers in the Talmudei Torah and was discussed at length in meetings, as everyone agreed that the problem was the difficulty to obtain proper chasidic clothes ,which forces parents to compromise and buy what is supplied in the stores for lack of alternatives.
“We wish to annouce that after examining various options and negotiating at length, we have arranged with a well-known and quality company to produce and import a number of attractive styles of shirts, pants and sweaters in all sizes and in our own style for the benefit of the Boyan cheider children.”
The letter added that the clothes would be ready in the summer for the new year starting in Elul 5783 and would be uniform requirement for all children in the Talmudei Torah of the chasidus.
Who owns this lucky clothing manufacturer?
It is understandable that they should try to change the horribly tight pants etc that boys are wearing
“ parents will be able to buy clothing imported via a specific company“
So, which Boyaner chasid got the contract, and how much did it cost him/her
Don’t know the details or story behind this, but don’t most schools these days have school uniforms? Especially for the girls?
This is great.
I wish that these clothing come to NY & NJ.
It’s horrible the way the kids in our generation dress.
This would (but never will) make the perfect “KnowUs” campaign.
Transparent quality
Transparent cost
Transparent overhead
Transparent leadership
Transparent accounting
What an opportunity to make a Kiddush Hashem!
Conformity. Not erlichkeit.
More added expenses
This Rebbe was far more lenient in dealing with a pedophile principal in his NY Yeshiva
To all those complaining:
The Rebbe doesn’t tell you how to run your business, please don’t tell him how to run his.
Boys school uniform is long overdue. It should not be a single source though – eg it should be certain color / style clothing, not a specific brand, and be available from multiple sources.
And what does this have to do with education and erlichkeit so wearing a suit makes you frummer? Follow the money trail
But this will be hitting Monsey Williamsburg boro park Lakewood soon
Shalom.
As Dovid haMelech said in Tehillim:
“..kalevush, tachalefaim vayachalofu”
Like clothing, change them and it will change us.
Besuros Tovos.
Another way for the Rabbis to control their followers and choose who they like and who they don’t like.
I presume that the organization that received the contract is a non-profit foundation.
They forgot the red silk tie. Very important part of the uniforms in Communist regime
How is the sole seller of these uniforms related to the Rebbe?
they seem more genuine and lack tuna bagels
why was my comment erased? It was not negative.
Oy Vey………….. How much did the “fortunate” importer pay to the good rabbi in order to get the contract!!!!!!
A Rebbe of a larger sect is no different that any other Dictator. They don’t squeeze more out of their poorest because they need the money. They do it because they can & it exudes power & strength to their followers that they better stay in line.
Why is this a story?
A bit confused – there was a lack of options for the parents so they created options – so why the mandate? basically a nice way of excusing the parents for dressing their kids not to the schools liking – otherwise there is no reason to mandate..
Funny that rizhiin is all of a sudden the chniyakta chasdus. This is so not rizhin who was always more modern and sophisticated. I guess it’s part of the style to become hard core right wing. It’s what attracts people. The devri Chaim Ztl who was so mad at rizhin for it’s embracing modernity is singing didu netzach and laughing so hard.
