JERUSALEM (VINnews) — In the wake of the Knesset discussion regarding a revised draft law for the chareidi community, the IDF released data about chareidi conscripts over recent years.

The data demonstrated that currently there are more than 3000 soldiers from chareidi backgrounds serving in the IDF. In 2019 1,222 were conscripted, in 2020 1,193 and in 2021 1,185. Most of the conscripts are aged 18-21, and hundreds of them leave religion while in the army, according to the army data.

Brigadier-General Amir Vadmani, the director of human resources in the IDF, told the Knessets Foreign Affairs And Defense Committee that 63,000 chareidim aged 18-26 declare that they are Toratu Umanuto and the army does not check if they are studying in yeshivas. 900 students had their status revoked due to their going abroad despite restrictions on travel abroad. Only 10% of these had enlisted in the IDF. The IDF intends to open more enlistment options which would be suited to chareidim.

The new revised law being proposed would grant an exemption to chareidim from the age of 21 instead of the current age of 26. The IDF says that the exemption age should not be below 23.

As for going OTD, perhaps many who join the IDF are boys who already have a predisposition to stray and used the joining as an opportunity to be away from family to be able to stray, sad.

Maybe you should go see the Hesder chevra and tell them how the IDF wants to turn them into Goyim. I’m sure they will agree with you 1000000%

You’re a great example of what the Chazon Ish ZT”L called “a good Polish soldier”, still fighting yesterday’s battles against an enemy that’s long gone.

Ben Gurion has been dead almost 50 years and was out of power even before then, and “The Zionists” were never a monolithic group with a single set of objectives – and are less so now than ever. There is no government program to make people not Frum, and in fact, the government of the State of Israel today is the largest EVER supporter of Torah learning – and when I say ever, I mean throughout human history. Yes, many of the early Zionist leaders were actively secularists and did want to make Jews abandon Torah and Mitzvos – but they are long gone, and those with that view are a shrinking minority in Israel today.

How “religious” were these “chareidi” soldiers before they enlisted……

Shocking 63,000 shirk their duties to the country and let others risk their lives instead of them. Chilil Hashem
The OTD statistics are misleading – is those that don’t wiggle out, even as they could, are the ones that are on the verge of OTD

But if they don’t call themselves Chareidi and join the IDF, the Rishisdik government will realize that Chareidi aren’t joining their trayfene army and will start coming after our heilige bochurim while they’re sitting in the coffee rooms – oops, I mean Batei Midrashim…

The Zionist army is shmad. They brainwash the inductees with their version of Judaism, not just Zionism (because Zionism is their replacement for Judaism).

Even if some still put on Tefillin and keep Shabbos, etc. when they emerge from that den of heresy and all three of the cardinal sins, that doesn’t justify even one Jew going there because, again, the IDF is the indoctrination center of Zionism, and Zionism is idolatry and heresy, and the three cardinal sins must be avoided even upon pain of death.

It really is that simple.

The IDF is the perfect place for a Frum Yid to leave Yiddishkiet.

The IDF is a depraved and a cesspool for anyone who wants to stay Frum. This is not me saying. Just ask anyone who served.
