Two Sifrei Torah, Two Classmates, Two Tragedies: Aryeh Died In Terrorist Attack, Elazar In Meron Crowd Crush

JERUSALEM (VINnews) — In a moving ceremony which took place in Jerusalem’s Har Nof neighborhood on Lag Ba’Omer, local residents inaugurated two sifrei Torah commemorating two youthful members of the community who were both members of the same class in their Talmud Torah.

One of the sifrei Torah commemorated Elazar Kolti, who was 13 years old when he was killed in the Meron crowd crush in 2021 exactly two years ago.

Elazar’s friend and classmate Aryeh Schupak was 15 when he was murdered in a terrorist explosion at the entrance to Jerusalem in November 2022.

Friends of Aryeh made a huge effort to gather plastic bottles and beer bottles and to use the deposit money on these bottles to raise funds for the Sefer Torah which they consecrated in his memory.
